Well, sadly, there are many users here and in other social media spaces who have complained incessantly about the Bitwarden UI having an “outdated” look (see below for examples form this forum alone), and Bitwarden management evidently gave in to such pressure starting with initial “modernization” efforts in late 2022 (and culminating with this latest release). The only silver lining is that the current product design team seems at least partially open to constructive feedback.
Hi,
I’m a huge fan of Bitwarden as it’s opensource and forever free. Due to this ditched dashlane and fully on bitwarden.
As a product design, I can see user interface is decent and dark mode is there too but UI looks outdated and needs to refreshed to compete with other market players as its open-source would love to help improve overall user experience and modernizing interface.
What do you guys say?
As a recent KeePass user, I’ve been exploring Bitwarden and have a few observations. While I appreciate Bitwarden’s sync capabilities and overall ease of use, I’ve noticed occasional performance issues and glitches, which is unexpected given the application’s lightweight nature. Additionally, the current design, though functional, could benefit from a more modern and polished aesthetic. The prevalence of sharp corners and a somewhat dated appearance may not align with the design preferences of t…
Dear Bitwarden Team,
I am writing to express my appreciation for Bitwarden as my password management tool. However, I would like to request the addition of some features that I believe would greatly enhance the user experience.
Sorting Options: It would be incredibly useful to have the ability to sort entries by modification date, creation date, and other criteria. This feature would help users manage and locate their entries more efficiently.

I had 1Password for too years, but a friend pointed me to BW. So I try to use it. I know it’s free but, I have some problems using it. The explanation pages are not clear for a noob.
My first notice is the old-designed UI that is somewhat complicated and not really self-explanatory. It would be great if the UI, browser and mobile, got some more attention, so it would be clear for first users what is where and how to use without reading so much.
Then the reaction on a password page is somewhat …
I’ve noticed that the design of this app varies quite a bit across different platforms. I recently updated to iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, and I also use Windows 11, Android, and the web version.
On Apple products, the app feels cleaner and more modern, but on other platforms—especially the web—it doesn’t quite have the same look and feel. I’m curious about the reasons behind these differences. Are there specific design considerations for each platform, or is it just a matter of style?
I’d love t…
Why has the password panel been increased in size … When it pops up to click on to log in it was nice and compact. Now its twice the size. Who on earth thought this was a good idea. At least provide an option to have the smaller one back. Completely pointless change for changes sake.
Hello,
On Dribble, I came across the work of Artem Nosenko (/shots/13907643-Bitwarden-Design-Concept-for-macOS) and his concept is awesome.
I then tried to implement his work without changing the UX too much.
The main lines :
I migrated Font Awesome 4 to 5 (but I kept FA 4 to be compatible with jslib);
I reworked the left menu (especially the drop-down list);
In the middle list, I changed the size of the icons, without increasing the height of the elements;
Finally, I moved the action butto…
The UI of the Bitwarden app looks and feels great . I think the website version should look like the app version.
I’ve been a Bitwarden user for my personal stuff as well for work (through Organizations) for years and while I love the open-source, community, and security aspects, the app’s UX is just…not good. It’s clunky, old looking, and confusing (if you are in organizations especially).
Do we know whether Bitwarden is working on a UX revamp? Or is that not on the roadmap?
Make an complet User Interface redesign , especially for browser extension, i moves from lastpass few days ago for safety concerns about it being hacked again in 2019, I am more or less satisfied with BW features compared to it, But falls short In comparisson design wise with nor only LP but all the main competitors
