Important Android Autofill Updates

TLDR:

Please update to 2025.8.1 (rolling out) and disable and reenable the toggles for ‘Autofill services’ (choose Bitwarden) and ‘Chrome autofill integration’ (choose other services), and restart your mobile browser.

Hi everyone,

Due to recent changes from the Android team, Chromium browsers now require you to choose between using Chrome/Brave autofill or by using another service (like Bitwarden).

Chromium Browser autofill

  • Ensure Chrome/Brave and Bitwarden are updated
  • In Bitwarden, visit Settings > Autofill > use Chrome/Brave Autofill integration > Autofill using another service
  • Click the restart Chrome/Brave button

Android Device autofill

  • In Bitwarden, visit Settings > Autofill > Autofill services > choose Bitwarden as your preferred service for passwords, passkeys, & autofill
  • Choose between inline or popup

General Autofill improvements

2025.7.0/7.2 includes autofill improvements, and will be available for everyone soon.

Autofilling credit cards and Identities

The team is rolling out cc autofill and working on support for identities next.

Troubleshooting

This got Bitwarden working again for me. Thanks!

Slight typo above, so should be:

In CHROME/BRAVE, visit Settings > Autofill services > Autofill using another service

Just updated the post above to remind everyone to reset any feature flags they have manually adjusted to avoid autofill breaking Android’s new autofill framework.

So, restore the “defaults” in

  • chrome://flags for Chrome
  • brave://flags for Brave

?

Wow, that’s some news! :+1: But also all a bit confusing, because now you wrote “Chrome’s autofill framework”, so autofill for cards and identities is also only to be expected for Chrome browser on Android?

PS: Will Google Play Store make 2025.7.1 available for everyone before 2025.8.0 gets released?!

Hi on some apps on Android phone still not working, like Bank of America app

Thanks

Hi there, for specific sites, please share the details using this form for the team to review.

If You use Vivaldi Browser on Android, go to Settings → Password Manager and disable “Automatic Access”.

For anyone experiencing seeing autofill briefly and then it disappears, a fix is on the way, thanks for your patience!

Thanks, glad to hear that - I’ve found Android autofill significantly worse in recent weeks. Some websites don’t recognised but even those that do I find it hit or miss as to whether tapping the Bitwarden suggestion at the top of the keyboard and then tapping on the login actually fills the details or not. Seems to vary by website but these are on website that always used to work flawlessly before. I’ve been having to resort to copying my password when on the site search page as tapping so often fails now. Would be great if that could be fixed.

Thanks for the feedback, 2025.8.1 is rolling out and will be available for everyone soon.

Ta, have double-checked and still on 2025.8.0 so hopefully the update will do the trick!

It takes a little time to be available for everyone, stay tuned!

I’m on `2025.8.1` now - still having issues with some sites unfortunately (disabled and reinstalled autofill, restarted browser and phone). An example just now was trying to login to the Cloudflare dashboard. Nothing in popup so tapped the Bitwarden autofill quick settings button and just got a toast saying no password fields detected. Then had to manually copy and paste password and then TOTP. On desktop it recognises the fields fine and I can use Ctrl-Shift-L to select autofill as normal.
