Login Failure on iPhone app?

Yes tried Bitwarden.eu and received same error. Shows a pop up “ An error has occurred. Username and password is incorrect. Try again”. Positive username and password I’m using is correct. I’m able to log in fine on my laptop in a Firefox browser. Just cannot login via Bitwarden app on my iPhone and iPad since I transferred to a new iPhone.

Have you found a solution for this?
I have the same problem. Can login on all devices via app or browser.

On my new iPhone the app does not work, is just say “An error has occurred.”, no more information.
Login in the browser does also work here, its just the app.

@Leba Hi!

One thing that I guess I read on the Subreddit a few days ago, would be that the iPhone “keyboard” can produce “unwanted” characters (an example I can think of now: adding a “space” after entering a dot ?!). I don’t know at the moment if you can make the master password visible on the iPhone mobile app, but check again, if master password (and email) are indeed correct typed - and the correct ones.

Other than that, I can not add anything else. (apart from the usual standard troubleshooting-tips, like completely logging out and then trying to login again, deinstalling and reinstalling the app, make sure it’s the right server region (US or EU)… :man_shrugging: )

Hi Leba,

After a week of troubleshooting with a Bitwarden support person, my only solution was to use another email account and then transfer all my account data. It was quick and easy as long as you have another email address that you can use.

I hope they fix this bug in the future because I don’t want to have to do this every time I upgrade my iphone.

Good luck!

“Another account” can be accomplished with “plus addressing”… that is using “[email protected]” instead of just “[email protected]”.

It is also possible to delete a bitwarden account without knowing its password, presuming you have access to the email (to accept the “are you sure” email), so the old address is not actually “gone forever”.

Was having the same issue. Reset my password and it allowed me to sign in again on my IPhone 14

Hi, having the same issue here. iOS 18, iPhone 15 Pro Max, version 2024.9.0.

The current version on iOS is 2024.9.2

Apart from that:

  • be sure that “smart punctuation” on iOS doesn’t change your master password input
  • be sure that you try to login to the server region you have your account on/in (US or EU)
  • if that doesn’t help: log out completely (you may be already, but just to be sure…), deinstall the app, maybe also before or after deinstall delete local data on your device (Storage | Bitwarden Help Center), then reinstall the latest version via the app store
  • and if you are self-hosting: update your server version, because the new native mobile app doesn’t work with “older” server versions

So, the test flight version is out-dated? Weird that they don’t update that then.

Yes. For iOS, about 4-5 weeks ago, the new native mobile app was officially released (“General Availability”).

I’m not sure about that. If you follow the link to the iOS beta group “test-flight” here: Bitwarden releases phased beta for native mobile apps | Bitwarden Blog then it says, I guess, that you have to leave the “test-flight” if you don’t want to have the beta tests anymore.

Well, I wanted a test version to test things but it’s strange that it’s not getting updated. Can someone give more information about that?
