How to enable MS EDGE autofill of non-sensitive personal details (address, phone etc)

I want MS EDGE browser to be able to save and autofill non-sensitive personal details like addresses, emails, date of birth, phone number etc on any site that requests the information.
It seems that the Bitwarden extension is preventing EDGE from doing this but I cannot see/find out how to configure the extension.
Can anyone please help?

@Bob_M Welcome to the forum!

If you have such information stored in “Identity” items in your Bitwarden vault, then you can auto-fill them using the right-click context menu (by selecting Bitwarden > Auto-fill identity >).

If you want to use the browser’s native auto-fill capabilities, you’d have to enable them in the browser settings (edge://wallet/settings).

Hi
Thanks for the guidance which I have implemented.

However I do find that it is slower using Bitwarden than Edge to fill basic info. like my email or home address.

I have found that I am unable to configure Edge to save & autofill basic info whilst the Bitwarden browser extension is configured as the default password manager. The options are blanked by the extension.

Guess I’ll have to live with the limitation as a cost of enjoying password autofill by Bitwarden, unless anyone has a better idea?

My suggestion is to go to Settings > Auto-fill, and set the “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” option to “Off”. Bitwarden should not be affecting your browser settings unless you set that option to something other than “Off”, and then also click Make default instead of Ignore at the prompt that asks “Make Bitwarden your default password manager?”

After you turn off the option “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” [Edited to Add: You must also uncheck the checkbox for “Make Bitwarden your default password manager”, if this is enabled], then you can go back and enable native auto-filling of Personal information in the browser settings (edge://wallet/settings). However, I would strongly recommend against enabling the Microsoft wallet options to save and auto-fill passwords.

There are several other ways to auto-fill passwords stored in Bitwarden (other than using the inline dropdown menus that appear in the username/password fields when you have enabled the “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” option). The most effective and safe way to auto-fill login credentials is to use a keyboard shortcut. Open the browser extension shortcut settings by navigating your browser to:

edge://extensions/shortcuts

In the section of keyboard shortcuts for the Bitwarden extension, look for the shortcut function called “Auto-fill the last used login for the current website”. If there is no shortcut defined there, place the cursor where it says Type a shortcut, and type a keyboard combination to use for auto-filling. All other browsers use Ctrl+Shift+L, but Edge uses this for something called “Paste and Go” by default. If you don’t use the “Paste and Go” feature, then I would suggest choosing Ctrl+Shift+L as your keyboard shortcut for auto-filling login credentials.

Thanks very much. I’ve made the suggested changes and will give it a few weeks to see how I like it.
Just an FYI - to enable configuration of Edge to store “basic Information” (not passwords) I had to disable Bitwarden as the default password manager in the extension.

Yes, seems so, thanks. Will edit my previous comment to add this detail.
