Lost my phone yesterday and found out that my authenticator app was not backed up properly so have lost access to 2FA when I try to login to BW via the new installed app. I do have access to my vault via a chrome extension on my computer browser.
Does deleting my account mean I can create a new one with the same email address?
Make sure to use the browser extension to export your vault (Settings > TOOLS > Export Vault) a.s.a.p.; choose the unencrypted .json format.
After deleting your account (using the Account Deletion Form), you should be able to register a new account using the same email address. I don’t think there is any delay before you can start using your previous account email address for a new account, but in case there is, you could always set up your new account using a temporary email address, and then change it to the desired email address later.
This is also a good opportunity to decide whether you want your Bitwarden account to be hosted in the US (on bitwarden.com) or in the EU (on bitwarden.eu). Beware that if you wish to set up or join an organization, all members of the organization must have accounts on the same server as you; likewise, if you plan to use the Emergency Access feature, the Emergency Access grantee must have their Bitwarden account on the same server as you.
If you had a Premium subscription on the original account, you can contact support to request that your subscription be transferred to your new account.
