Asking to save passwords Bitwarded just filled

Since the most recent update Bitwarden has started asking to save passwords that I am autofilling with Bitwarden. I know there are the options to disable asking to save new or updated passwords but I want those left on. It shouldn’t be asking to save passwords it already knows and is actively filling out for me.

When that surprisingly happens, I have found that it is often because the URL does not match. This happens most often when a phone app was used to create the entry and now using a web browser, or vice-versa.

The technique I use for dealing with this is to save the entry and then go into my vault to manually merge the entries – most often adding the new URL as a second URL in the original entry.

I’ve noticed that a few times, usually when there’s a different domain for logging in vs the the main page, but I’m getting it even when the URLs are matched.

Like, I will go to accounts.google.com, use Bitwarden’s autofill to fill in creds, then when I submit Bitwarden asks me to save the creds despite the URLs being associated with the entry already.

I was unable to duplicate your experience just now with accounts.google.com, using 2024.12.3 on Windows 11 24h2 Chrome131 .

If you are able to narrow down when this happens, perhaps create a bug report (click the green “new issue” button) with as much detail as you can. Redacted screenshots are often very helpful to the developers. Also given that “Most recent update” has been a bit of moving target lately, it helps to include the actual version numbers.
