So I am confused, If I purchase a premium account it says that I can share with 1 other person. Does that 1 other person also have to have a premium account or can they have any kind of account? Would we both need premium accounts if we want to share with each other?
What kind of plan do i need to just make a folder called “Shared” and share it with her and she can add to it and I can add. This is so confusing as to what plans we need to do these kinds of things
You and your wife can have either Free accounts or Premium accounts (or one of each) — it makes no difference for purposes of sharing. You can then set up a Free Organization, and rename the “Default Collection” to “Shared” (or create a separate collection called “Shared”, if you prefer). You will need to invite your wife to become a member of your organization, she will need to accept the invitation, and you will need to confirm it (as explained in the documentation). You will then need to configure the permissions of the shared collection so that you both have “Can Edit” or “Can Manage” access.
Oh so even in a family it’s considered an organization. Okay. And you get 1 free organization and collection with your account? Also if I am storing TOTPs in my vault because mine is a premium account will my partner that is free account be able to access the TOTP?
“Organization” is just the name that Bitwarden users for vaults that can have multiple users.
You get one free organization with any account. The free organization can have up to 2 users (you and one other person), and can contain up to 2 collections.
No, to use Premium features (e.g., TOTP) for vault items that are shared between multiple users, you need a paid organization plan (e.g., a Family Plan).
