New to Bitwarden, trying to migrate from Lastpass

We are trying to migrate from Lastpass to Bitwarden, and we imported our vaults from Lastpass, but already we discover a lot of features missing and bugs.

  1. In lastpass, you could set to log out from your vault (the web browser app) after 1 day, 1 week etc. However, this setting seems to be broken in Bitwarden. In Settings > Security > Timeout setting to logout is set for example to 24 hours, bitwarden still requires to log in with master password after restarting the browser. The only setting that works is to set it to Never log out. How is this possible, isn’t this something very commonly used?

  2. Is it possible there is no way of sorting all logins? We have several hundreds of passwords and sharing. Where can I see which were the most recent logins, or how can I sort by date created?

  3. Automatic Sync does not work in browser extension - my other organization member added a secure note to the organization on his phone. It showed up in my phone’s bitwarden automatically, but still 5 hours later did not show up in my browser extension at home without going to settings, sync and performing manual sync.

  4. Several times when giving wrong password it sometimes throws an unexplicable complicated code error message that doesn’t tell password is wrong.

Aren’t these considered the most basic things of password managers, how can they be broke or missing from a product that costs 3 euros per month per user? Or am I just missing somehting here?

Hey there,

  1. More info on this here: Vault Timeout Options | Bitwarden Help Center Specifically this:

Web and browser extension timeouts

Due to the web vault and browser extension depending on your web browser, there are unique “timeout” scenarios to consider:

  1. If you refresh your browser (CMD/CTRL + R), your web vault will lock. Refreshing will not affect a browser extension.
  2. If you close your browser tab, you will be logged out of your web vault. Closing a single tab will not affect a browser extension.
  3. If you quit your browser, you will be logged out of both your web vault and browser extension.
tip

If you are using a browser extension, you can bypass this by enabling the Unlock with PIN option and unchecking the Lock with master password on browser restart checkbox.

  1. The team is looking at sorting functionality, can you share more on your use-case? There are several ways to autofill that don’t require searching: Autofill Logins in Browser Extensions | Bitwarden Help Center such as tap the badge icon, use the right-click context menu, keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + L or auto-fill on pageload.

If you need to condition the import file prior to import, that can also be done: Condition a Bitwarden .csv or .json | Bitwarden Help Center

  1. More information needed here, sync should be automatic, you can read more about it here, and if that is not your experience after reviewing the help doc, you can reach out to the support team here for additional support.

  2. We will need more information on this one to look into it further if you open a ticket with the support team.
