New guy asking more questions

Hello all, I’m still working on my learning curve, so am wondering about these things at the moment…

  1. How many of you are comfortable in using BW on your most sensitive of financial accounts?

  2. If one already has an account with retailer, with username, password, email, how does BW work with changing all that?

  3. I’ve just learned that BW’s policy in one person per account, unless you form an Organization? I’m wondering how would I handle having BW work on accounts I share with my wife, e.g. our Amazon account? What is to stop her from logging on to BW on her device, and then having BW in turn log into Amazon.

The more I learn about BW, the more complex it seems to me. But I’m guessing I’m the one who is making it more complex?

Thanks, as always!

  1. How should I answer for every other Bitwarden user? My answer is that the precise purpose of a password manager is to hold vital information securely. I would not have changed to it if I thought it did not.

  2. I suggest finding an insignificant login, changing any aspect of it then changing it back again, or changing the password permanently. Then you will have the experience of how it works.

  3. This query was answered by grb to you in another thread a short time ago. It may be more a matter of ethics rather than a technical question.

I switched from Keychain to Bitwarden earlier this year. I found the learning curve pretty straight though one must always walk a distance. I tested for maybe a week before adding a premium subscription.

I trust that my experience adds a modicum of help for you.

I have no problems with this. But I use 2FA for those accounts, which provides additional protection. If you’re still uncomfortable, you could consider the technique called “peppering” (as explained here).

Bitwarden doesn’t get involved with changing your account details. The purpose of Bitwarden is primarily to serve as a secure storage location for your passwords (with features such as auto-filling for securely transferring the login information into an online login form). Maybe you meant something else, in which case you should rephrase your question.

It would be best to leave the discussion of this topic to your other thread.

Thank you. I appreciate your input.

Thanks for your help. I’ll need to do some trial and error with some accounts, watch some more videos. I get the basics of all this, but figuring out the fine tuning is confusing, overwhelming, even.
