Why using Bitwarden Authenticator?

Hello,

I wonder if it makes sense to use Bitwarden Authenticator?! And in which cases?
I use Bitwarden Password Manager and it’s integrated 2FA for several sites.
And I use the Microsoft Authenticator for only 3, 4 cases. But also for the 2FA code for the Bitwarden app. Something inside me says it might be better to have this 2FA not in Bitwarden. But I am not sure.

Or does Bitwarden Authenticator makes sense only without a running subscription for Bitwaden?

Greetings,
Claus

You will get answers on both sides of this issue. Personally I prefer not to mix it together and I also prefer to only use 1 app (not multiple apps) for 2FA. So I use Bitwarden for passwords and 2FAS for 2FA/TOTP. But some folks prefer to use Bitwarden for both…different strokes for different folks as they say.

I have an authenticator app that has 4 TOTPs; 2 x bitwarden accounts and 2 x email accounts. I normally just use it for logging into Bitwarden from a new device, but the email accounts are there as part of my emergency plan. All details are on my emergency sheet, so I can get by without the authenticator app but things should be easier if I have access to it.

I initially used the bitwarden app. I had no problems using the bitwarden app, but I later changed to an app that was available on more platforms.
