Of course, but only a tiny percentage of Bitwarden users install the extensions from GitHub, right?
The Bitwarden team likely needs to ping Mozilla to ensure that Mozilla received that update. Mozilla typically approves extension updates for recommended extensions within just 1-3 days. Given that it has been weeks, something is atypical and someone needs to step up and contact Mozilla to see what’s going on. Who will do that?
Regardless, in the meantime, the misleading post and top-posted FAQ need to be adjusted to reflect the current state of affairs so that thousands of Bitwarden users aren’t mislead and don’t spend their time searching for a function that doesn’t exist for them.
Came here looking to hide the “all items” section as it’s useless to me. 745 items or whatever… Maybe just show it when you actively filter, or collapse is fine I guess. Lets just say I’m looking forward to the promised improvement.
The reason I don’t like it is because previously I could see my CC info, and Identities right there below the current page’s suggestions. Now I have to filter for those. A waste with no gain since my whole vault showing is not practical to scroll use.
Anyway, sorry to rant, just explaining the loss… Now to the actual report…
I gave “wide” mode a try. Seems ok, except when I hit CTRL-Shift-L a separate window popped up to log me in. The window size must be specced based on standard and it’s cropping the contents. Not the highest priority, but definitely a finishing touch. It seems it’s not an issue to click the pop-up button once you’re logged in, only before entering the password.
Not sure of the reluctance to simply agree with the idea of sending a quick email to ensure the right person at Mozilla received the update and is working on approving it for release to the general public. It’s counterproductive to not take such a simple action.
If you look at the actual data, you will see other recommended extensions that were updated after Bitwarden have been made available to the general public. Bitwarden’s reputation is obviously going down right now due to a self-inflicted wound, so the smart thing to do is to take positive steps to reverse that trend. Yet, as they say, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”
I see a lot of comments here and on Reddit, and maybe there should be a page with a clear overview showing which browser store is currently on which version, as this seems quite confusing for many users. People often write that a certain feature is missing or ask when the new version will become available.
Should Bitwarden or its users send emails and chase Mozilla after every update? There are likely to be more of these smaller (yet important) updates in the near future.
Why in the world would you switch how to fill a website login from the broader login panel to a small nonintuitive Fill button in said panel? Please revert this insanity, or add the option to allow this to be switched for user preference.
I’ve given the UX refresh a month. I still hate it. I find it to be non intuitive and less efficient. Fill needs to be the default when you click on the item as that’s the whole point of the password manager. Copy user, Copy pass, Copy 2fa, and edit need to be displayed by default as those will be the second order most common actions. Everything else can be in the edit page. Listing all items are lower order than Type followed by folder.
Congrats on the new UI design, it has driven significant negative user engagement. Please listen to the developers in the future as I’m sure they pushed back against the changes and use the interface daily.
Chromium has indeed been the first to receive new updates, as Firefox is still on an older version than Chromium. Also, the redesign was released first on Chromium. I’m not sure why brave hasn’t updated the extension yet.
… and the same redundancy is not there on the Android app. Overall, they (iOS and Android) seem to look different also in other regards like the search…
The new screen to unlock the browser plugin seems much more crowded and cluttered than the old screen (all the screens do, TBH, but one at a time). I think the biggest thing causing this feeling of overcrowdedness, though, is how the ‘PIN (required)’ text intrudes into the PIN entry text box.
I dislike pretty much everything about the new look, but that’s the most obvious and up-front.
@orc4hire Hi! I redirected your post to this “megathread” about the new browser extensions UI/UX, as it seems to be the exact right spot for your post.
