Utter garbage. Looks worse, and is less efficient. We need a way to revert back to the old UI.
@Nathan_Heuer Welcome to the forum!
See here.
I like the new extension GUI. Currently using it with Chrome and eagerly awaiting Firefox to update (I guess there is a delay in extension approvals).
I do think the team needs to bring back the Vault button at the bottom of the extension. Listing all the items instead of having a vault button is a step backwards.
Me too. I just came on this forum to say exactly this, and I’m glad I’m not alone. It looks like the programmers don’t know what to do.
Sorry, but badmouthing the programmers is neither productive, nor appropriate. The programmers have implemented what they were asked to implement. The decisions were not made by the programmers.
What kills me is that I need to click the three dot menu to auto-fill my credit card… Why?!? Why is it not the default? Or at least have a button on the item so I don’t have to navigate a sub menu!
also, clicking the main body of an item does NOT auto-fill, it expands the info… that’s terrible. Auto-fill should be the default, not expand. AUTO-FILLING PASSWORDS IS KIND OF THE POINT OF THE APP!
Lastly, the three dot sub menu… why does this even exist? For two or three options? There’s plenty of room to put those two or three buttons on the main item, no reason to hide them in a sub-menu.
Not to be completely negative, the UI does look better. That said, I’d stare at a turd if it did what I wanted it to do.
This is not the expected behavior for the new UI. To experience the expected behavior, please open this demo page, then open you browser extension. You should see all of your credit cards under “Autofill Suggestions”, with a Fill button:
The problem is that the cards are only displayed as autofill suggestions if Bitwarden detects the presence of a payment form, and the detection algorithm is not very good in its current form.
this appears to be the case for me… would be better if the autofill button was always there.
the algorithm doesn’t recognize CCs at all for me so i had to pin the CCs to my favorites - not ideal but it sort of works. I still need to navigate the sub menu to fill
@1111111111 I tend to agree, that the auto-fill button (if it survives the next days at all) would make sense on all favourites, too… But it would be a forced-auto-fill then, if the URL is not associated, and I personally would rather have some kind of warning than just executing the auto-fill.
My info doesn’t automatically fill unprompted, I have to click the item to fill (on the old UI). New UI makes me click the extension>three dots>autofill.
My problem is that the CC does not have an autofill option on the face like it’s supposed to because BW is not recognizing the CC form, so I have to dig around in the menu to fill it.
If your info is filling unprompted I believe you can toggle that in the settings: settings>autofill>autofill on page load
Hey all, thanks for the feedback! In the new update that’s rolling out, you can choose your preferred copy method:
- Settings > Appearance > Show quick copy actions on vault
We also recognize that many of you prefer the previous autofill and vault/tab behaviour, so we’re working on the following setting menu options:
- Choose your own autofill behaviour (tap to autofill vs tap to view item details)
- Ability to collapse all items in the combined vault view.
This UI change is a definite downgrade. It is NOT intuitive, actions don’t behave as they did, your design is disruptive to flow! I don’t want to “click around” on something as important as my Password Manager to find out what will perform a task I used to do easily, what the heck?
Items don’t sort the same way, actions are NOT THE SAME when I click on things, the UI looks pretty bad rn as the colours are non-contrasting and who needs gray type on a white background! The font sizes alternate between too big and too small and the small fonts are a truly ridiculous choice, have you forgotten about accessibility and the people who struggle to see? AND the layout has removed buttons That Were Right There to do stuff and put them in a menu, what a backward step!
Revert this, you silly Product Manager, this is a mistake! The previous UI was perfectly fine, darn it! I’m a developer and change is awesome, but this was ill-thought out and presents your product very poorly.
@imccann Hi!
I must say I agree to what you write about the readability - fonts, font sizes, contrasts etc.
I assume, you mean the copy buttons for username, password and TOTP? Those buttons are back again! You only have to activate this option:
Settings → Appearance → “Show quick copy actions on Vault”
Yes, as others have said, it is super frustrating to have something that was super easy become less effective and require more clicks. Please reduce clicks, not add them.
Ideally, one would have a “bring back the old UI and behaviour” setting.
Apart from that I would like to propose the following settings:
- Only display passwords of the actual site / matching the URL matching rules specified vs display all passwords regardless; I want to enable the first option here because it enhances the probability that “System 2 (Slow analytical thinking)” can kick in on phishing attempts.
- Auto-Fill passwords / fill passwords with one (extra) click; I am going to enable the second one for me due to the same reasoning
- Click on entry fills the password, while an “edit icon” is on the side vs Click on entry opens the edit window, while a “Fill” button is on the side (I will choose the first because I feel the curren layout is very unintuitive)
- “Round design” vs “Cornered design”
That sounds like a rendering issue on your system
Ah yes the classic “blame the user” customer support method
Ability to collapse all items in the combined vault view …
Is again missing the point of the feedback being given. This is a partial work-around so the user can make a few extra clicks to get to the view they want. That’s not the problem.
The problem is that the Tab and Vault pages should not have been merged. They serve two different purposes. The correct page for a user’s preferred workflow was almost always correct if the last used page was displayed, and correctable in one click if a switch was needed.
First of all, I am a Bitwarden customer, not a customer support rep. Second of all, I wasn’t blaming anybody. Regardless, the issue described by @nelph0nd, which I was responding to, is a rendering issue — caused by a a bug in the new UI — and completely irrelevant to any discussion about the merits of the new UI design.
ETA on the new update for Chrome and Firefox web ext? FILL not being the default is killing me.
For what it’s worth, I feel like the “FILL” target is WAY too small - there’s dead space 360° around the target box for apparently no reason
