I’ve added Bitwarden to both Safari and Opera, but don’t see the Bitwarden icon in the menu bars of either browser. This makes it hard to access.

When installed correctly, you should definitely see the browser extension icons. I have not heard any else complain of this issue previously, so I would start troubleshooting by having a look at the following resources to ensure that the extensions were installed correctly:
