Bitwarden starts and instantly disappears, leaving a black thumbnail

Since yesterday, my Bitwarden, which I use on Windows 11, won’t start properly. When I open it, a white screen appears and then instantly disappears. In the taskbar, it shows a black thumbnail when I hover the mouse over it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn’t solve the problem. I’m using the Microsoft Store version, and it’s giving an error. Does anyone know how to help me?

It opens like this and stays like this in the taskbar for less than a second.

I use self-hosting, but the problem is with the desktop app. It works fine on the browser extension and the Android app.

@Danielbcvv Hi!

Try to deinstall again and after that, delete all local storage of the app (see here: Storage | Bitwarden Help Center). After that, reinstall again.

Is your server version up-to-date?

I tried this method, but it didn’t work. There wasn’t any local file in the path. So, I installed it and saw that the files appeared, but when I deleted them again, the local files disappeared, and it didn’t work.

And about the server, it is running in Docker on the latest stable version.

No, it isn’t: Release 1.32.2 · dani-garcia/vaultwarden · GitHub

I updated it, but I can’t even log into the server because the program won’t open.

Did you try the non-Microsoft Store version?

I tried both the Microsoft version and the one from the official website.

Then I have no immediate idea at the moment… strange that even deinstallation doesn’t reset that… as my desktop app works without problem, I tend to think it is something with your machine. - Or maybe try temporarily a previous version, like the 2024.9.x (if there was a bug in the current version)?

I’m thinking that my antivirus might be causing some issues. I had a problem with it giving false positives. I’m going to try the older version.

The older version worked, so it must be some bug in the new version.
