Not sure why Bitwarden isn’t communicating here, but from the github:
GitHub is the official forum for communication about bugs and their fixes. This is a community support forum, for Bitwarden users to assist each other (although Bitwarden devs and other staff also participate from time to time).
Many consumers don’t feel comfortable on github, finding it confusing. That’s why I’ve been reposting their updates here.
As part of their newly affirmed commitment to improved communication, I believe they should post important updates to their forums and the BW subreddit. Breaking changes, impactful bugs, security issues, stuff like that.
Just my opinion as one user amongst many.
Firefox 127.0.1 with Bitwarden Plugin 2024.6.2 - still logged in since one week;
Firefox Dev 128.0b5 with Bitwarden Plugin 2024.6.2 - here I am logged out again;
Chrome Dev 128.0.6535.2 with Bitwarden Plugin 2024.6.1 - here the problem also starts now that you are automatically logged out;
MacBook Air M1, macOS Sonoma 14.5
Now it’s not even remembering my email. How is it that you’re making it worse?
Did you already install the patch with version 2024.6.3 (#80) and still have this problem?
Not sure how to get the 2024.6.3 version, as it is not on the firefox add-on site yet. My experience is that extensions are usually they are approved within minutes to hours, not days.
Which is annoying since I was just logged out again, and my email was cleared from the login box. So it’s even worse now.
This is so annoying I have made my system significantly less secure by simply keeping a copy of the password on my desktop so I don’t have to type the 20+ characters every single time.
Given your discomfort level, you might consider peppering the password on your desktop, or switching to Chrome for a month or so as this is worked out.
If you’re comfortable w/ side-loading, the latest release is at github
For my personal use case I have been successfully using v2024.3.1 whilst awaiting this latest release; I then wait a day to make sure it’s actually fixed before installing (cough) 2024.6.2 still broken
I am experiencing this log out issue in the chrome extensions since last 2 weeks.
Whenever my macbook goes to sleep, even if the chrome app was not closed, the bitwarden extension is getting logged out.
It doesn’t even remember my email address.
If you have tried uninstalling/re-installing the 2024.6.2 version and still get logged out, may be you should try filing a bug. The “remember email” not working has already been filed.
Very much have the same issue still on 2024.6.2. A few months ago I setup my vault with a yubikey, with the understanding I wouldn’t be needing this on my trusted devices. Now I’ve been logging in again and again for weeks now and it seems to get worse. I’m half considering removing my yubikey as a second factor, and that’s really an unacceptable solution to this.
The final fix is in 2024.6.3.
Maybe I wanted to say “wait for the announced final fix with 2024.6.3, because it is already known that 2024.6.2 doesn’t fix it…”
My experience with the Firefox extension is, it is something between days and weeks.
Last one was a couple of days. I’d expect it by the end of the week.
With Chrome you could switch to developer mode and force an update of extensions. Is there a similar feature in Firefox, and if so, how do you get to it?
It’s reporting no updates found. Maybe it’s a rolling release with Mozilla or not approved yet?
Mozilla usually take some time (days to weeks) to approve new offerings in their app store (including new releases of browser extensions). Apparently, version 2024.6.2 took only 4 days to approve, so hopefully, version 2024.6.3 is not far behind. If you’re impatient, you can look into side-loading the latest release.
Nah, it’ll probably take another week before it randomly logs out. I should be good. I’m still undecided if I’m going to continue using Firefox or switch back to Chrome. Manifest v3 breaking uBlock Origin has left some Chrome bitterness.
