I rely on “auto-fill and save” feature provided by the extension for several years. Early 2024 someone changed the location of it ( Auto fill and save gone? ) however it looks like in 2025 this has been removed entirely or hidden once again?
Please share how to get the one-click user flow to save a URL to a credential… This is a fundamental usability capability to many users like myself. You can see that it is not even an option anymore now - is it behind a paywall?!
But only for login items in the Favorites or All items sections. Your screenshot shows an item in the Autofill suggestions, which means, it already has the current URI/URL you’re on → and that means, “Autofill and save” is not necessary for “Autofill suggestions”.
(Autofill and save fills the credentials and stores the URI… but again, an autofill suggestion implies, it already has the URI…)
hi thanks for the quick reply and clarifying that the UX behavior is “we won’t show the option but its there”
As a suggestion, if a sub-menu under the 3 dots has a given number of options. it’s probably a better UX to show the same menu options everywhere but simply grey them out, rather than plain out not display a menu item.
Having a menu with an option greyed out would have indicated some condition is not met for the option to be clickable, by hiding the option altogether users will simply not know why its missing.
I only searched shortly for possible duplicates and didn’t found any general such request – so I think that would probably make a good feature request.
But as a remark: I guess there are two opinions on that. E.g. this request is for hiding an element not in use: Show TOTP Copy Button only when TOTP is stored/enabled – and always showing all options (some greyed out) may be a “cluttered UI” for some people.
Well here’s the bug, I visit https://login.sans.org/ and the extension icon on the browser does not show the number “1” of entries that match this URL.
I have a record for 1 login here, in the past when I visited a page that I had a saved login for the extension has a bubble indicating there are credentials available to be used on the page (or parent domain depending on my settings matching URI)… this seems to be broken now? See screenshots.
Because I do not see “1” bubble any more my mind takes me to “oh crap I have to save this login… let me look for auto-fill and save i know i have a login…”
The “Fill and Save” and “Autofill” options appear in the overflow menu only for items not in the “Autofill Suggestions” sections (i.e., items that do not match to the current website):
Thank you - I believe due to this UI bug and behavior is really what caused this side effect poor experience.
IF bitwarden had shown me “1” that the page has stored credentials, I would have never gone looking for the familiar “Autofill-and-save” option under the 3 dot menu…
