What should I do about too many repeated passwords?

If your vault is in such a state, then I would recommend that you create a vault export, purge your vault contents, and then use an external deduplication tool (for example, if you export in .csv format, you can use Excel or any other spreadsheet app to deduplicate your data) before importing the deduplicated file back into your (now empty) vault.

Bitwarden does not currently have any automated deduplication tools, although the “Re-Used Passwords” report might help you find duplicate entries.

Hello there, I just noticed something, when you import from differed sources, e.g. Chrome, Vivaldi, etc. You are bound to have doublicates. It would be a great help if bitwarden would check if the entry is a double. Regeards KlonAmy

New Report -- Similar Vault Entries

Create a report that helps users find duplicate or similar vault entries. Ideally, it would first have a series of checkboxes indicating which fields (name, password, type, totp, url, etc.) and maybe groups of fields (“timestamps”) to check for matches. Then, it would display groups of entries who’s checked fields match. Although similar to Duplicate removal tool/report (including merge), this does not propose Bitwarden attempt automated remediation and therefore is a much simpler change.

 

The first of these contains several suggested work-arounds, including at least one user-contributed deduplication script.
