Some of the site's favicons are missing

I’ve been using bitwarden for several years and I’ve been pretty happu with it but I noticed that some of my entries are missing favicons. I’ve read other posts about the issue and managed to fix some of them but several that are left are quite resistant to any fixes. They all have the default bitwarden globe icon.

The sites are:

www ankama com/en (games)
www sankakucomplex com (anime pictures)
www elvikom pl (polish electronics repair forum)
mhhauto com (automotive forum)
www elektroda pl/ (polish electronics repair forum)

Afaik they all have proper favicons showing in my browser but idk no matter what i do the favicons won’t show in bitwarden. Could anyone help me with reagrds to these sites? Thanks

I have noticed the same issue but can’t see a pattern on why some sites are missing and other (similar?) sites fails.

@ma_ko, welcome to the forum! :waving_hand:

@ppl , welcome back!

As far as I know, Bitwarden uses the information on a page to fetch an icon that is stored on Bitwarden’s server. The apps access the icons on the server, not from the websites directly.

Sometimes, Bitwarden doesn’t pick out an icon like the web browser does, and it’s most likely because it uses a different rule (different web browsers also seem to use different rules) to select an icon.

What may work sometimes with Bitwarden is to input another URL with a different hostname, for example, web.domain.com (you can also look for ideas in the website’s page source) instead of www.domain.com, to see if it has different icon placements that would match Bitwarden’s picking rule. Beyond that, it’s basically either living with it or reporting it to customer support. See the example here:

Add the URI https://www.ankama-shop.com/en/, click the URI :gear: icon and select “Never” as the match detection option, and then move the ankama-shop URI so that it is the first in the list.

sorry for repplying again but if someone has any idea for https://www.ups.com/ favicon it would be nice. Added some more sites aand this one stands out as it stubbornly does not want to load the icon

Add the URL https://about.ups.com and move it to the first position. This shows the icon for me.

My solution is is similar to the one used by Neuron5569. However I think the correct solution is to allow a user to optionally enter a url for the favicon. If the favicon field is empty then BW selects the first url in the list.

Currenly I have a number of entries where the first listed url is not the preferred choice for “Lauching” from BW.

Neuron5569’s is a good example of the problem, is not suitable at all for launching in BW. In UPS example you have to jump across from the about page to the main page to login.

A lot of my entries were in the form https://site.com/login. This was a good choice for launching within BW, but then, for some sights, I need to add https://site.com above https://site.com/login so BW can find the favicon.

I had the same issue, but design.ups.com is working for me
