Recreate the old "Pop-up box" to enable android work profile auto-fill

I started using bitwarden since 2023. Everything is fine, until your new version’s comming.

The old mobile android app could show up a white password fill box as a fallback at work profile, all you need to do is just enable accessbility and “Allow showing upon other apps”

So I could isolate bitwarden from those non-foss and even malicious app which always request extra permissions like sotrage to function normally.

However, your shinning new version ditched this useful feature since 2024, forcing me to downgrade warden to keep using.

Its rather disappointing that a foss software would just give up such useful function and ignore anyone who use bitwarden at both main profile and work profile.

@CanglanXYA Welcome to the forum!

Do you mean an overlay like this:

?

Yep, sorry for the delay. But for the android, I dont think it relys on accessbility completely.

Hi there, the team is looking into reports of autofill issues. In the meantime:

  • Which mobile browser are you using?

    • When making Android autofill changes, refresh the website before trying to autofill again.
  • For expected Android autofill behavior, check out this video.

  • Which Android autofill settings do you have enabled? Autofill From Android App | Bitwarden

  • Make sure your preferred service for passwords, passkeys & autofill is set to Bitwarden (toggle Autofill services on/off in the Bitwarden settings menu, or search your Android settings directly).

    • You may need to navigate to chrome://flags search for enable-autofill-virtual-view-structure ensure it is enabled, and then customize your autofill service.
  • Enable ‘Use Chrome autofill integration’ from the autofill menu in the Bitwarden app.

  • Autofill Service (pop-up overlay)

    • Verify if disabling inline autofill forces the overlay to appear.
  • Inline autofill (keyboard)

    • Ensure the suggestion strip is enabled in your keyboard settings menu. (search for show suggestion strip in Android settings)
    • If the issue persists, try switching keyboards, reinstall gboard, or clear keyboard cache (Gboard app info > Storage & cache > Clear cache.)

If the autofill issues persist, please contact support at: Help Center | Bitwarden so the team can look further into it.

@dwbit and @CanglanXYA According to this comment on GitHub, checking the keyboard settings for inline suggestions (interfering with Bitwarden’s) should also be done.

@CanglanXYA The screenshot I posted was from the current Help Sites for Android - basically the same link, @dwbit also posted: Autofill From Android App | Bitwarden

@CanglanXYA I’m going to close this feature request for now (and with a delay), as this “pop-up box” is still there with the Android mobile app.
