Prompt user when "Auto-fill on Page Load" is used on page with multiple matches in vault

I am writing to request an enhancement in the auto-fill functionality of Bitwarden. I have noticed a subtle difference in the auto-fill behavior between Dashlane and Bitwarden, which I wish to bring to your attention.

In Dashlane, the auto-fill feature behaves as follows:

  • If there is only one account registered on the target website, Dashlane auto-fills the field input.
  • If there are two or more accounts registered on the target website, instead of auto-filling the field input, it opens a selection panel.

However, in Bitwarden, regardless of the number of registered accounts on the target website, the auto-fill option always fills in the field with the top-ranked account in the list, even when there are multiple accounts, which can be quite inconvenient.

I kindly request you to consider the following enhancement in Bitwarden:

  • If there is only one account registered on the target website, Bitwarden should auto-fill the field input.
  • If there are two or more accounts registered on the target website, instead of auto-filling the field input with the top-ranked account, it should open a selection panel for the user to choose the appropriate account.

I believe this improvement would significantly enhance the user experience. I appreciate your time and consideration, and I look forward to seeing this feature in your future updates.

I have updated the title of this post to more accurately reflect the nature of the proposed feature (original title was “Request for Improvement in Auto-fill Functionality”).

I think a new option called Autofill on page load if one login for the browser extension in the Default autofill setting for login items dropdown would at least satisfy the first part of this feature request.
I’m currently just doing this by having the default setting set to Do not autofill on page load and then manually editing logins for sites that only have one login. So it would be nice to be able to have Bitwarden handle this automatically for me.

Do know that one can press control-shift-L multiple times to cycle through multiple matches.
