I have been using Bitwarden successfully for two years. The desktop app and browser extensions work as expected.
EXCEPT… The Browser extension doesn’t prompt me to save info if I click away. This results in losing all the info that I had already typed into the new entry. Here’s what I saw:
- Go to a new website. Create the credentials on the site.
- Remember, “Oh. I need to add this to Bitwarden”
- Click the Bitwarden icon at the top of the browser
- Click “+” to create a new entry
- Start adding the site name, credentials, info about the site, etc.
- Realize that I don’t remember a critical piece of info from the site
- Click back to the browser window
- BLAMMO! All the Info I had typed is gone - I have to start again.
My request: Is there a way that Bitwarden can avoid losing that data when I click away?
Thanks
first click the “popout” icon in the top left corner, with an arrow pointing up and to the left.
That’s very cool. I didn’t know about that feature. It seems that the Bitwarden extension could always pop out the window when adding an item (clicking “+”)
But wait: this would also be helpful when modifying an existing entry. (I’m equally likely to screw up and click away from Bitwarden when changing an item.)
New Proposal: The Bitwarden extension should automatically pop out the window:
- When adding an item (that is, clicking the “+”)
- When modifying an existing item (that is, clicking “Edit”)
Bitwarden’s current behavior already animates this - the “editing window” slides up to replace the display.
In the new proposal, the pop-out window would open in the same position but as a free-standing window. Its fields would be set to the same values as before, and the user would click “Save” or “Cancel” to finish (as before).
How can I make this a serious feature request? Thanks
