Pinned (and collapsible) search queries to customize Vault view

I do think it would be really helpful if the search capabilities were enhanced as follows:

  1. Add the ability to pin search queries image so that we can have many saved/visible for quick, easy access.

  2. Be able to collapse/expand image both our own search results and the automatic system ones (favorites, cards, identities, etc.), saving state when the vault is closed. Much like was added to favorites and all items in 2025.1.1.

  3. To the advanced search, add sorting options (last used, alphabetical, etc.).

  4. When something in is in the search bar, the “All Items” name is not really appropriate because only some of the items are being displayed. Perhaps instead display the search string.

Here is a mockup of how the vault page could look.

I think this is a really interesting proposal, but as its original title was somewhat vague (“Vault Search Results”), it may not have been getting the attention it deserves. I have now changed the topic title to be more descriptive (“Pinned (and collapsible) search queries to customize Vault view”). Feel free to further revise my modified title if you can come up with something more apropos.

Yes that really is a very promising idea. But shoul be combined with kinda tabs for pinned search. Oftherwise every search would take space for the title with dropdown.

I’d love to see addition of saved search.
In my view, such feature is far superior to folders or tags as items don’t need to be manually added to them.

I understand we already have access to the full power of Lunr search queries, but it would be nice to have the ability to save those search in order to reuse them.

In fact I could make great use of a saved search like “Mike” for instance; not that it is a complex query, but the magic is I don’t even have to think of adding items to it.

Want to have a quick access to all items you own and haven’t shared?
Save   >-organizationid:*   and there you go!

@maclm I merged your “older” Feature Request (FR) with this “new” Feature Request to the same topic. As the first post in this FR references the new browser extension and includes a few more suggestions, I put your post at the end of this FR (anti-chronological…).

@gtran, in another post, you mentioned improvements to table spacing, sorting, and filtering.

I wanted to bring this FR to your attention which includes much of this, with the addition of the ability to pin search results.

I have a sense that these developments will be for the Web Vault and perhaps the Desktop app, and not so much the browser extension. But maybe I’m wrong about that…

I too am scratching my head about the target of development, but since “autofill” is one of the poll topics, I am suspecting it would extend to the extension.

I do note he staff notice at the very top of the topic says “Sorting functionality will be coming first to the web vault, and then exploring other platforms.”. So yes, the web vault may be first (as is typical) but it does not appear that it will be the only development target.

I wish there was the ability to pin several, maybe up to 5 or 6 very frequently used items or the top used few favorites at the top of the “My vault” view so that they are available, no matter what you are searching for, quickly at all times. I know it is a request for the laziest of the lazy, but meh, I thought I would ask and see if anyone else agreed…

Isn’t this exactly what marking an item as favorite does?

@swjpilot Welcome to the forum!

Not “exactly”, because:

  • The “Autofill Suggestions” area is always at the top, and cannot be collapsed.
  • Searching and filtering affects what is shown in the “Favorites” section.

@swjpilot I moved your post into this closely related feature request, the implementation of which would also meet your needs.

@DenBesten I would suggest that you remove the strikethrough from this part of your request, because it is still not possible to collapse the Autofill Suggestions section:

Reworked item #2 to reflect current state and for clarity.
