Password Manager Says Master Password Is Wrong

I’m curious if this is a joke or not, is this a real app, am I being punked because a password manager programme says my master password is worng when it is not. I created an account, set the password then tried to login to the extension and it said the password was wrong, it was not wrong. I was logged in via the website so went to the account and deleted it and started again. Set the same master password again, same thing. Logged out of the website to make sure it wasn’t just the extension, no dice. Doesn’t log in. I have nothing in this account so it matters not one bit but you expect me to use this nonsense to manage passwords when it can’t even get the master password correct? I’m using Edge, I don’t really care if it works in Chrome because I use Edge, along with a hundred million other people.

Did you choose the correct server region (US/.com v. EU/.eu) when trying to log in? Those two server regions are not interchangeable and you can only login to the server region, where your account was created on.

If that wasn’t it, then check your email address - if you chose the correct one and without any typos.

I had a very similar experience this morning: vault.bitwarden.com did not accept my master password while attempting to log in. The Firefox plugin on my desktop and mobile worked, accessing the app on my mobile worked, but getting to the Password Manager directly into browser did not: it just refused to believe that that was my master password. I was able to unlock the interface via my mobile app, but it’s worrying that the web UI didn’t accept my master password: what’s going on?

@jongorama Welcome to the forum!

If you already checked if the master password input was correct, the email address was correct and the server (US v. EU) was correct, next thing to consider would probably be, if you have any problematic special characters in your master password - and if there was some kind of auto-correction at play (e.g. inserting an unwanted uppercase letter, space bar or quotations mark conversions are also popular).

Those two things are described in more detail here: [Guide] "I can't login" - Some tips for login problems/issues so I would recommend to check that. If that doesn’t help, you could also check the other points in that guide.
