Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Bitwarden community and a thriving and respectful group of Bitwarden users! To foster a positive and productive experience for all community members, please review these guidelines and strive to maintain a safe, accepting, and inclusive environment for everyone.

Be Respectful

Respect facilitates collaboration and collective progress. Communicate with consideration, professionalism, and patience. Disagreements are natural; strive to express views with courtesy, and respect other perspectives.

Stay on Topic and Please Follow Platform-Specific Rules

Keep discussions relevant to Bitwarden and related topics. Follow these pointers to maintain organized, searchable, and productive conversations:

  • Start conversations in the appropriate category
  • Avoid cross-posting the same item in multiple topics
  • Avoid diverting a topic by changing it midstream
  • Use the Like button instead of adding “+1” or “Agreed” as a comment
  • Use Reply as a Linked Topic to avoid taking an existing topic in a completely different direction

Beyond these community guidelines, please adhere to the rules and policies of specific platforms or forums where you engage with the Bitwarden community.

Inclusive and Welcoming Community

Diversity matters and this community strives to make everyone feel welcome. The community does not tolerate behavior or posts that harass, intimidate, or discriminate. This includes harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or similar personal characteristics, as well as offensive, abusive, or hateful speech or behavior.

Open and Constructive Communication

Help make this a great place for discussion by always aiming to improve the dialogue. Be open to constructive feedback and offer it in a helpful and considerate manner. Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages questions and celebrates knowledge sharing.

Strengthen an open and constructive environment by refraining from self-promotion or spamming. Use language that is clear, respectful, and appropriate for all audiences. Avoid the use of profanity or offensive terminology. Always respect the privacy of others and refrain from sharing personal information about anyone, including private messages and personal contact details.

Reporting Concerns

If someone is believed to be harassing anyone or has otherwise violated these Community Guidelines, please contact one of the Bitwarden Community admins listed on the staff page. Include as much detail as possible, as more context makes it easier to quickly address situations.
