I’ve experienced this behavior several times now. There’s no Bitwarden icon or inline menu popup in a field. If I click the Bitwarden extension at the top and then click again in the field, the icon and inline menu are displayed.
Is this normal behavior?

Yes. It all has to do with how the page is written. If the page does not have a username field on it when it first loads and Bitwarden inspects the page, there is nothing to add its shield to. If the page later adds the username field after Bitwarden has done its bit, it does not get filled.
Another trick is to use keyboard autofill (control-shift-L), which does not depend upon altering the web page and therefore does not get gummed up by weird webpage designs.
Additionally to that… since I updated the extension a few hours ago to version 2025.5.0, the shield icon seems to be buggy now. If I unlock, the “lock” symbol doesn’t change at first and I don’t see the “numbers” in the shield icon now (at least only sometimes)…
Maybe the same here?

This is where it happened most recently. The email and password fields are recognized. The Bitwarden icon and inline-menu are visible. Nothing happens in the 2FA field after that. Only when I click the Bitwarden extension icon at the top and then click in the 2FA field do the Bitwarden icon and inline-menu appear.
