New versions incompatible with DuckDuckGo?

For a few months now Bitwarden’s DuckDuckGo integration no longer works.
Is there anyone who is in the know about what the issue is/when this will be fixed?
In the DuckDuckGo settings it tells me to downgrade to Bitwarden 2014.2.1 as that seems the last version that worked. So it seems that something broke the integration in a Bitwarden update. I’d love to know the status of the integration and what the plans for the future are.

This email is a year old. The DuckDuckGo Bitwarden integration hasn’t worked for the last 15 months as of 2025-06-01. Is there any hope that this issue will ever be addressed and corrected by Bitwarden? I have my doubts.

@jdh and @tc46wine Can you please confirm that you downloaded/installed the DDG browser for MacOS directly from https://duckduckgo.com/mac – and not the Apple App Store version of DDG (as the latter doesn’t work with the BW/DDG-integration)?

After installing the right version, did you set up the integration following the exact steps as described here?

If all those steps were followed, and it still doesn’t work, then you should contact the Bitwarden support and/or file a bug report on GitHub (“New issue”).


If anyone who reads this is on Windows: there is no BW/DDG integration on Windows systems at the moment – here is the corresponding feature request:
