New User with Organization of 2 (Me & Spouse) - MasterPassword Question?

As a trial, I set myself up as a Bitwarden user. I imported LastPass data. All has been working well.

I found the instructions (“Admin ConsoleOrganization Basics”) to add an organization and have done that; because I want to add my wife (for an organization of 2).

I’m now at the point of setting up a Bitwarden account for my wife. Do I use my Master Password also for her, or choose a 2nd. Master Password for my wife? Are there any pros or cons for re-using, or not re-using the same Master Password?

Using the paid version of LastPass for years, we had a single account and one master password (for the multiple devices we both own). Doing this, we obviously couldn’t segregate our 640 entries.

(Note: I found this post (“Need help on 2 person sharing”), which was helpful.

I could just plod ahead and do what seems to make sense. But if there any suggestions for how best to set-this-up, or another Bitwarden sponsored link, or a YouTube video re best practices for two person sharing, those would be appreciated.

I think you both have your own account/master password and you share items, but I haven’t done this myself.

Hope it helps.

Generally, re-using passwords is not a good idea, and re-using your master password is to be especially avoided.

Re-using the master password will double your attack surface — i.e., double the chances that your master password is stolen. In addition, if someone gains access to your wife’s master password, they can not only compromise her individual vault and the shared organizational vault, but also compromise your individual vault.

Use separate master passwords. The passwords should be randomly generated passphrases consisting of a sequence of 4 randomly selected words.

Thanks for the link. Actually, I had found it. But it may help others.

Good and helpful commentary – two passwords it is.
