Missing delete button for organization items

How do I delete an entry in this great new UI? Can’t find it in the 3 dots menu nor in edit mode.

In edit view mode for an item, there should be a trash symbol on the bottom right corner.

Well, there isn’t.

Well, you’re right. Sorry, I was too quick.
It is not there in edit mode (why not???), but in view mode.

Nope, also not there in view mode:

I have it there:

I have it as well, but strangely it’s missing in Edit mode.

Is this item in a personal vault or in a organization?

It’s in an organization (i.e. the family group).

Still, there used to be a way to delete those from the browser extension, don’t want to have to go to the vault…

I’ve never dealt with a family organization before only company organization but I’m going to assume they are essentially the same.

I’m not at my computer at the moment but I did check on the iOS mobile app (version 2024.12.0) and the delete button is missing also.

In the iOS app I went to an item in my personal vault that is in a folder, I clicked on the item and then clicked on the 3 dots in the upper right corner. The menu opened with following options:

  • Attachments
  • Clone
  • Move to Organization
  • Delete

If I reproduce the same steps but with an item in my organization I am presented with the following options:

  • Attachments
  • Collections

Maybe the item has to be assigned to someone’s personal vault, then removed from the collection and then it can be deleted?

That would essentially mean I need a PC with a web browser to delete organization items.
Surely that’s not the intended behaviour.

This issue pre-dates the 2024.12.0 UI design revision, so I’ve moved your comments out of the UI redesign feedback thread.

To delete organization items from a Bitwarden client app (browser extension, mobile app, Desktop app, etc.), you must have Can Manage permissions explicitly set for the collection that holds the item that you wish to delete.

This has been explained in the links below:

Thank you - well explained, I’ll look into the links.

Even if I concede “well explained” – which I don’t – the UX is still terrible.

Which part of my explanation was confusing to you?

Your explanation was fine; it’s the explanations of explanations of explanations that’s difficult. I don’t expect you to write the user manual in the community forum.
Even when I get to the manual it’s still difficult because of the construction of the UI/naming conventions/etc., but of course that’s not your problem either.
