Currently the “fill” button occupies approximately 5% of the card. The “copy” button occupies less than that. Both of those activities are performed far more frequently than “view,” and yet the majority of the card is dedicated to “view.”
Create a “view” button to replace the “Fill” button and make the majority of the card “fill” the credentials.
If you are on extension version 2024.12.4, you can get rid of the Fill-button and get back the old auto-fill behaviour by checking this:
Settings → Autofill → Click items to autofill on Vault view (the “view” function wanders into the three-dots-menu then)
This is an intensely frustrating bit of UI design, I do not want to have to locate that tiny ‘fill’ every time I need to fill a password. Frustrating enough that I’ve come to the community board for the first time in 5+ years of Bitwarden usage! When will the setting to fix this come to the Firefox extension?
Thank you, @Nail1684 . I wasn’t aware it was a FireFox thing. I’ll pursue it over there.
It is truly frustrating, and a rather huge change from how BitWarden plugin operated previously. It’s a tiny target and I often end up looking at an entry rather than applying it, and then have to horse around to get back to filling it.
I often wonder which UI person decides these things.
Hm, it’s “both”. - Bitwarden releases the extensions for all browsers at the same time. But the browser “app stores” have to approve them. And Firefox/Mozilla is… usually not the first one to “approve” a new release/update. And that last part is not within Bitwarden’s control…
(BTW, I guess two exceptions to this: I think Safari and DuckDuckGo work a bit different here, as their “extensions” are tied to the BW desktop app, so the release of the desktop app would be the deciding factor for these two browsers)
Yep - the cards work properly in the Chrome plugin on Windows. Oy. No wonder my brain’s scrambled - I use multiple machines, multiple browsers, and multiple OSs.
