Inline Autofill: "No items to show"

Updated today to 25.5.0 which seems to work at first but then after some time browsing all field drop downs for logins will say “No items to show.” Oddly enough, the icon in the toolbar will show the matching log in, and if I right click in the login box > bitwarden > autofill it also shows up there. It seems like it loses the ability to do the autofill URI matching after a while.

Browser is Edge 137.0.3296.30.

I think you’re describing the inline autofill menu - and in short, I see the same thing with browser extension 2025.5.0 (Vivaldi)…

Yes, thank you for adding the official term.

I think this is the same case?

Well, I think certainly related, but maybe not exactly the same.

You posted this 7 days ago, before extension version 2025.5.0 arrived in the browser stores (that was beginning of this week - maybe 4-5 days ago), and as I posted the GitHub issue there, that may be an “older bug”.

But now, with extension 2025.5.0, this seems to have gotten worse indeed (my personal impression/experience the last days)…

I hope they will fix this

I hope so as well…

BTW, do you use Edge as a browser? – Because Edge got the browser extension earlier, so I wondered afterwards, if you got extension 2025.5.0 earlier than I thought.

I don’t use EDGE. I don’t understand why the extension is coming sooner there. Isn’t Microsoft checking anything?

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue on Firefox on version:

Version: 2025.5.0
SDK: 'main (f28b4ef)'
Server version: 2025.5.1

Same here:

Working now on extension version 2025.11.1.

macOs 15.7.1 (24G231), Vivaldi 7.7.3851.66 (Official Build) (arm64)
Bit Warden extension 2025.12.10

It worked when I updated, but stopped not long after.

Hello @tkdennis and welcome to the community👋

I suggest you try a typical procedure when an update appears to have gone sideways:

  1. Uninstall the extension, ensuring the local storage directory is deleted.
  2. Restart the browser.
  3. Try logging in again.

Still experiencing this bug.

Date: January 2026

Extension Version: 2025.12.0

Server Version: 2025.12.2

Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent conflict between the Bitwarden inline auto-fill menu and the browser extension icon.

The Issue: When navigating to a login page, the Bitwarden icon appears correctly within the username/password fields. However, clicking that inline icon results in a “No items to show” message.

Conversely, the Bitwarden extension icon in the browser toolbar shows a notification badge (number) indicating that it has found a matching login. When I click the toolbar extension, the correct login item is visible and functions perfectly when clicked to auto-fill.

Steps Taken:

  • Verified the URI match settings (currently set to default).

  • Confirmed that the vault is unlocked.

  • The issue persists even when the extension identifies the exact URL match in the toolbar.

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11

  • Browser: Firefox

  • Bitwarden Extension Version: 2025.12.1

  • Server Version: 2026.1.0

Has anyone else encountered this discrepancy where the inline menu fails to pull the data that the main extension clearly sees?

@schwarznavy I moved your post into an existing thread on the same issue.

(and I saw this myself today)

I have this issue with 2025.12.1
It shows login when I click the icon in the browser bar. But dropdown in the login form always and on all sites shows “No items to show”.

I have the same problem. It actually comes and goes, but I haven’t collected data on whether it correlates with particular extension versions or something else. I primarily use Vivaldi with the associated extension.

As mentioned in here, right-clicking through the Bitwarden menu does list matches; it’s only the top-level inline dropdown that is empty.

I can confirm that it isn’t just the extension version. I have version 2026.1.1 in Vivaldi, and earlier today I always got the “No items to show” message. Then I restarted Vivaldi and now the dropdown is correctly populated - and I have the same Bitwarden version. So something happens to cause the extension to get into a bad state somehow.

Interesting, this is quite an old issue but I started having it just few weeks ago. Also on Vivaldi.

Maybe better way to temporarily fix the issue is going to extension management page (Ctrl+Shift+E) and disabling and enabling Bitwarden extension. This one doesn’t require to restart Vivaldi at least…
