I’ve enabled passkey in PayPal, however like other websites BW pops a window asking which type of passkey I would like to use to log in (yubikey, the BW, PC pini, etc.). Since PP only accepts Yubikey at the moment when using a pc, i always have to pick “Yuibkey - just once”. I caved in and set from “just once” to “always”. If PP ever lets BW be used as a passkey, how do I revert that setting back to always asking which passkey i would like to use?
You should be able to delete the paypal.com
domain from Settings > Notifications > Excluded Domains.
Whoops. Nevermind. I found this
Thanks! Your answer is the more updated version as the link I found had the old extension layout.
I use a PC and it already allows you to create and login with a passkey on Windows, iPhone, even Bitwarden. I’m using Windows 11 24H2. The only thing to note is that when creating a passkey on Bitwarden via PC, it lists the passkey as created on Windows using Chrome.
Yes, while that is true, I use Brave, which unfortunately isn’t one of the supported browsers to create a passkey on the PayPal site.
That’s still true, as I see also the notice, that my current browser (also Brave) is not supported for creating a passkey for PayPal. However, after I created one with Chrome, the login works with Brave.
So you’re saying I have to download Chrome, create a paypal passkey with Chrome, and that should transfer smoothly into Brave (since its chromium)? I’m gonna try that right now.
Basically yes, but since we are talking about storing the passkey in Bitwarden (right?), the passkey doesn’t get “transfered”. It’s only that PayPal has the browser-restriction (for whatever reasons) only for creating the passkey, but not for using the passkey.
I just saw this message after doing and I understand the browser restrictions now.
I was confused because you mentioned “However, after I created one with Chrome, the login works with Brave.”
Sorry for my bad choice of words then. So again, now the full version:
I could create my PP-passkey using Chrome and storing the passkey in my Bitwarden vault (via browser extension). Now, when I use Brave browser, I can use the passkey in the Bitwarden vault to login to PP.
Earlier I tried a different laptop with chrome in it, saved the PK to BW, checked if it synced with my primary (it was) and it didnt work (i just really dont want to install chrome on my primary, that’s why I did that). I finally installed chrome on my primary and repeated the steps to no avail. Still says “No passkey found for this applocation”. My only guess is you did your process some time ago? Maybe before they implemented something to prevent it from happening again? I could be wrong.
That’s true. It was July of last year. So could be, that it was possible - and now not anymore… But it would be really sad, if PayPal made their passkey implementation even worse since then…
