How to reset master password or export vault when logged in via fingerprint?

I’m currently logged into my Bitwarden account using my fingerprint and have forgotten my master password. While I don’t need it right now to access my vault, I’m worried that I might need it in the future—like when adding a new device or making certain account changes. Also, I can’t export my vault because I don’t remember my master password.

What are my options in this situation? Is there a way to reset my master password or at least export my vault data while I still have access? I want to ensure that I’m not locked out in the future.

Welcome, @MD_SHAHAB_UDDIN to the community!

Your best option is to copy each vault entry by hand, one at a time. And when you create your replacement vault, follow the Guide for Getting Started on the Right Foot in Bitwarden ™ (Version 3.0) so that your future-self does not end up back in this same predicament.

There is no way to reset a master password without knowing the old one. If it were possible for you to do it, it would also be possible for an adversary to do it.

@MD_SHAHAB_UDDIN You are right now in danger to lose access to your vault. Sometimes, you can get logged out spontaneously. (and biometrics is no login method, but only an unlock method - only the master password is able to log you into your account - or a login-passkey, if you had set up one for your Bitwarden account)

So, best thing would be, to cut access to the internet on the device(s) you are logged in at the moment and as @DenBesten suggested, “export” your entire vault manually to start with a new account.

Next time, create an emergency sheet with at least the Bitwarden email address, server region (US/EU), master password, 2FA recovery code and login credentials to your email address on it.

PS: And as @DenBesten already wrote, there is no way to reset or change your master password without having the current one.

PPS: And you should export everything rather sooner than later…
