Is there any way to hide the omnipresent Bitwarden icon from text input fields (Chrome extension)? It frequently obscures the right-side of emails and usernames and there’s no way to hide it. Also hide the empty pulldown if there are no saved passwords. That also obscures things I need to see. See screenshot below.
Any way to turn these off or hide them? The thin Bitwarden bar that appears across the top of the browser window is minimalist and perfect; that’s all I want.
In the same Settings > Auto-fill section, you can set the icon to display the menu on click as well, so that if you do have saved logins, they are easily accessible but don’t display immediately.
Is there a way to just hide this if we don’t have anything saved for those fields? I am seeing the autofill popups appear in a LOT of website fields that have nothing to do with logging in.
Ideally they’d only appear if it was a login page or similar, and then only on the login fields.
It is extremely frustrating that the icon and dropdown cannot easily be hidden for an input field via a simple click. I now had to turn this whole feature off, because there is no easy way to hide it on a per input basis.
I kept seeing the auto-fill Identity popup everywhere even though I have no identity saved. It keeps popping up over javascript-based suggestions under an input field. Can a shortcut be added to trigger it?
You can disable the inline autofill menus altogether (as explained here), and use keyboard shortcuts for autofilling instead.
The keyboard shortcut for autofilling logins is by default set to Ctrl+Shift+L (or Cmd+Shift+L on macOS). However, there is no predefined default shortcut for autofilling identities (or for autofilling cards), so you will have to define those shortcuts before they can be used (as explained here).
It may take some trial and error to find a keyboard combination that does not already have another assigned function in your browser; personally, I have defined Ctrl+Shift+3 = Ctrl+# for identities, and Ctrl+Shift+4 = Ctrl+$ for cards.
My point was on password autofill is useful and the other autofills I myself never use. I am sure Bitwarden would have more statistics on how much they are used. Considering this, it would be nice to have password autofills popping up but not the other autofills. Also, if there are no identities saved, which is my case, then I see no reason of identity autofill menu popping up.
I frequently use the shortcuts for passwords, but they rotate between available passwords and if there are more than let’s say 3 passwords, finding the right one is a problem, like keep pressing the key until you find it.
OMG thanks! This popup was driving me insane. I was just about to submit a ticket for this. This should really be OFF by default. The New Identity thing pops up EVERYWHERE!
In addition, setting “Show autofill menu on form fields” to “When autofill icon is selected” presents a different problem. Let me try explaining. In my Firefox browser I have some saved form field data, so that when I type the first letter or a few letters, a list of saved entries pops up below the form field allowing me to select from it, either using the mouse, or by pressing the down arrow key. I like to use the down arrow because it’s on the KB while the mouse is farther away. But when I hit down arrow, the frigging BW New Identity pop-up card takes over and hides the browser-saved form field data. So I am forced to use the mouse, which is inconvenient because it means an extra switch from KB to mouse and then back to KB. I hope I’ve explained this well.
I think the New Identity pop up should not take over the saved form entries in the browser when using down arrow.
Most Bitwarden users were autofilling without problems during the 7+ years prior to the introduction of inline autofill menus 9 months ago. My recommendation is to disable this feature altogether.
Certainly, turning it off is the only option for me right now. I would use the “middle ground” option i.e "When autofill icon is selected”, if it did not interfere with the form field browser data. I wanted to explain this issue as feedback. I realize now that I should’ve probably started a new topic for my specific issue with the browser form data.
I would instead suggest that you share your use-case in the relevant feature request topic, unless you have a proposed solution that is substantially different (in which case you can post your own feature request topic).
Verify that no Bitwarden inline menus appear on form fields;
Reinstall the Bitwarden browser extension;
In the Bitwarden browser extension, click on Settings ( ), then click Autofill and set the value for “Show auto-fill menu on form fields” to “Off”.
If the above doesn’t fix your problem, then please provide detailed information about your setup (at a minimum: device hardware, operating system version, browser version, browser extension version).
Happening to me too, I’m using Firefox 130 on Linux.
I made sure to uninstall the extension, delete data and reboot.
With the setting to 'Off" the popup is still showing.
