Why is the buggy download still available…? ![]()
A workaround for anyone that doesn’t want to mess with downgrading firefox or an extension or switching browsers, you can tell the computer you want to use a passkey from your phone and authenticate with bitwarden via your phone (this successfully worked for me)
At least for me, passkeys do not work when prompted on firefox. However, when I tried to use the same passkey to login to an account on chrome, bitwarden was able to recognize and use its passkey to login.
@user298 Welcome to the forum! I’ve moved your comment here. Please see the mod notice on the top post for further information about this issue.
This only works with Windows 11 or macOS, not possible on Linux.
While we all wait for the bugfix in the next Firefox extension release–you can still login using Passkeys with the QR code option. Assuming you have a smartphone with Bitwarden installed and your vault synched that is.
This may have been said elsewhere, but if you (likely) also have Bitwarden installed on a smartphone, when you encounter the Passkey prompt via Windows Hello or macOS system prompt, choosing QR code and scanning with your phone should also bring up Bitwarden to handle the request. I’ve never used that method myself (never had to) but it works just fine! No additional hoops to jump through with extension downgrades, disabling auto-updates, etc.
Yes, it has, in the comment that you yourself posted just before this one! (and also, here).

The fix has been merged into main, so this probably should be available within the next 2 builds.
Hi everyone, please update the Bitwarden Browser Extension to 2025.11.2 to resolve this issue, thanks for your patience!
Thanks, working again after update, AND restart of the browser - many thanks
And for those of you who downgraded to 2025.11.0, don’t forget to reset “Allow automatic updates” to On!
Can confirm working again
with the update, everything FINE… thanks
145.0.2 Firefox Release - November 25, 2025
Bitwarden version 2025.11.2
NOT working on accounts. google. com “Touch your security key with accounts.google.com”
@antiq Welcome to the forum! Have you checked your browser extension settings? Specifically, is “Ask to save and use passkeys” enabled, and is accounts.google.com omitted from the Excluded Domains list (both found under Settings > Notifications)?
Thank you for your reply but i struggle to find what setting you are talking about to check it.
When looking at bitwarden extension settings I have : Details, Permissions and data, Releases Notes.
When looking at Firefox settings, the menus are : General, Home, Search, Privacy & Security, Sync, Firefox Labs, More about Mozilla.
The only notification settings I found (In Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Notifications) only enable toggling on or off notifications from websites.
I also did a search (“find in settings” search bar) on “passkey” in my mozilla settings without results.
Can you please clarify which settings you are talking about ?
EDIT:
I found it, it’s was the settings inside the Bitwarden extension (log in into the bitwarden extension > Settings > Notifications) . Yes I had the toggle Ask to save and use passkeys” enabled but accounts.google.com was somehow in the excluded domains. Thank you for your help.
