Encrypted ZIP Export (JSON + attachments)

Hello, I’m aware that recently Encrypted exports [2] were implemented. But this is not full export with attachments. This feature request is to allow full export with attachments to encrypted with a password upon export.

This could be as simple as exporting the ZIP with AES encryption of the included files. Or GPG encryption of the whole file. Doesn’t matter much as long as the user can export all the data in one step and get it into an encrypted file locally.

Presently one has to export the ZIP unencrypted and this allows some period of time until other local processes may read the unencrypted secrets from that file, before the user can apply some form of encryption manually.

[1] ✅ Encrypted export

When exporting a vault backup as a ZIP (to include attachments), there’s no option to password-protect the archive. It would be useful to have an optional AES-256 encrypted ZIP export.

AES-256 encrypted ZIPs are supported by most major archiving tools across most platforms, so compatibility shouldn’t be an issue for most users.

Welcome, @John1 to the community, and thanks for the idea.

I merged your FR into this existing one so that votes collected by either one are consolidated instead of being bifurcated. Please advise if you feel the two FRs are sufficiently different that you would prefer they be kept separate.
