@wtansi My impression from being on the forum is that the Bitwarden employee who is most active here is @dwbit (who is a “Bitwarden Technical Evangelist”, forum administrator, and a social media community liaison of sorts). It also seems that Product Manager @Micah_Edelblut visits the forum on a semi-regular basis (as time permits, I surmise); from the developer side, @Quexten sometimes stops by to provide informative responses on important topics. Other Bitwarden staff have been seen on the forum from time to time; however, most Bitwarden employees appear to be very busy with their work, and do not spend much (if any) time on the forum.
It is a primarily community forum, for peer-to-peer discussion between Bitwarden users.
Do note that Bitwarden maintains a list of their “active, in-development initiatives from the Bitwarden product and engineering team”. It seems unlikely that one would get commitments beyond what is already published on the roadmap, but as @grb recommended, feel free to “contact Customer Support using the Help Center contact form.” for an official answer.
I have a ‘Family’ organization for my wife and myself to share website passwords. Whenever we add an item and assign the “ownership” to our family organization, we have to remember to scroll up and then check the “Default Collection” checkbox, else we get an error and we have to find where that error is.
It’s confusing because the checkbox doesn’t just appear, you have to scroll down to see it. And IF there’s only ONE (the default) collection, and Organization-owned items must be included in at least one collection, why not just have it pre-checked by BW?!
Was just about to post this, I’m 100% on this, it’s been bugging me for almost a year now, every time I add an entry, it’s a minor annoyance that adds up, yet such an easy fix tbh.
Please revisit this, my wife and I are highly annoyed by this behavior and its basically the only thing that would get us to switch off bitwarden at this point
When organizations disable individual accounts, they want to be able to automatically select the default collection and save it without having to take another step.
Your suggestion seems to be a variation of what was previously proposed in the Feature Request thread “If only Default collection exists, pre-fill it as checked”. Do you mind if I merge your request with that one, or would you prefer for your proposal to remain as a separate request?
If the requests are merged, you could edit your post to further clarify that your suggestion is an extension of the previous proposal, by allowing for the Default Organization to be pre-selected under additional conditions.
