This is the solution that BW is missing.
Obviously, the user didn’t notice this resize: vertical;
But I always look for this resize everywhere, in all programs. It’s innate to me.
And of course, the most important resize is on the external window. All built-in resize functions depend on it.
And I completely understand Mr. @confusion. I also have a list of over a hundred unwatched movies in my browser’s notes. And I don’t agree with the browser cutting off the height of the list.
Perhaps the monitor has the right to cut off the list’s length? No. I have two monitors, both height-wise.
And what if the user has 12 monitors? That’s the dream of every self-respecting BW user. The user has invested thousands of dollars in 3-6 video cards, a motherboard, and a power supply that heats the entire house.
But BW thinks that 6-8 lines of notes are enough for this user.
I can’t say. BW is a password manager! What notes? Wake up.
You could say that a browser isn’t really for Notes either. But they’re there, with built-in Markdown and images, like on this forum, and connections to other browser modules. It started as a small thing, but it’s grown into something useful.
Obviously, a user with 12 monitors expects BW to simply have height: 100vh; This doesn’t depend on the number of monitors. This user doesn’t even need screen.height – they’re no longer thinking in terms of the height of a single monitor. 100vh gives the height the OS allows. And there’s no need to limit it.
I want to show that I’ve also done a lot of work.
And of course, it doesn’t work ![]()
This thread has been around for 3.5 years. There’s a video above that shows exactly what users expect. I tried, with great effort, to stretch this BW UI.
Any idea when this thread will get the green birdie ?
@confusion @serega_da (and anybody else): Let’s try to keep the discussion in this thread on topic (i.e., Customizable Window Size for Browser Extension).
Any discussion regarding resizing of the Notes field belongs in one of the following locations (not here):
- The 'Notes' field no longer expands to fit the available window size · Issue #15515 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub
- Expand Secure Notes window as you expand popout box
- Allow the user to modify the DEFAULT SIZE of the NOTES field
- Save note/notes textarea "height" in browser app on resize (eliminate constant resizing task I have to do)
If further comments that mention resizing of Notes are made in this thread, the comment will be moved to one of the feature requests listed above.
