Hi, for some time now, I’ve noticed that the browser extension is running much slower during login. It often freezes for a few seconds after entering the password. This is most noticeable in Chrome and Brave, but I also have the problem in Firefox sometimes. The problem also occurs in my family (different Bitwarden accounts), on various devices. I even have a computer where I just reinstalled Windows 11 today, where I freshly installed Bitwarden, and it also freezes briefly during login. Generally, everything works fine; just wait a few seconds and everything works fine. What can I do to make the extension launch faster? It worked much better about a month ago. Additionally, in Firefox, the extension icon doesn’t update properly, for example, it displays a padlock when the extension is unlocked, and it shows the number of accounts assigned to a given website with a delay.
Hey there, there is currently a known issue with the browser extension badge icon. Regarding launch speed. Have you tried temporarily disabling your other browser extensions to check for interference?
I’ve tried it, and even with Bitwarden as the only extension, I still have a problem. Even on the computer where I freshly installed Windows today, it generally seems like after entering the password, the application doesn’t respond to “Enter” or clicking the unlock button. In fact, it does respond, but with a delay of about 3-5 seconds, and then another 4-5 seconds before the unlocked vault appears. This is all on fairly powerful devices (e.g., a Ryzen 7 3800x desktop computer, 32 GB RAM, NVME SSD), so everything generally always runs fast here. Bitwarden has always been fast too, but that changed after recent updates (about a month ago).
Same exact problem here. I actually notice it more in Firefox. Seems to work OK in Edge.
Not that it should matter, but I’m on Linux. I also tried disabling all the other extensions and Bitwarden is still extremely slow to login and fill forms. It also slows down login process to other sites as well. Even after it finally fills in the credentials, site appears frozen for ~10 seconds before finally logging in.
All this immediately goes away when I disable BW extension.
What’s the best way to collect more info on this problem?
