I’ve been using Bitwarden for a couple of years now and for the last year or so, I have been using it as my primary authenticator for storing passkeys and using them on all the different websites I visit.
About a day ago, passkey functionality in all my Firefox browsers on Windows 11 stopped working. Chrome based browsers seem unaffected and are still working as expected.
What Happens?
I go to a website login that supports passkey and log in with the passkey feature. Instead of the Bitwarden Passkey Prompt popping up, it pops up the Windows Hello dialog.
Does this Happen On more than One device?
Yes, I have tested this across multiple devices. All running Windows 11 and Firefox.
Does this happen across all domains?
Yes, I have tested the three domains I most frequently accessed in the past. All three of them are failing as of a day ago.
What Troubleshooting Steps have you taken?
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Bitwarden Firefox Plugin
- I have created a new Firefox Profile.
- I have deleted the passkey and recreated it in a Chrome Browser.
- I have rebooted all devices.
- I have checked the plugin autofill/blocked domains list (it’s empty)
