Bitwarden no longer auto-filling?

On Windows 11, using Firefox. I select the account from drop down in the login areas, and nothing happens. I go into the extension, and hit “Fill” and nothing happens.

It worked literally last week.

Two websites presently: QBO, Buildium

Firefox version?

That sounds like the inline autofill menu. (?)

What is your BW extension version?

What about the login form of this forum? (I can autofill it via the Firefox extension)

Without looking further into the sites you mentioned (I don’t know them…), autofill issues with specific sites can also be the result of changes on those sites – and can be reported via those Google forms:

Report an autofill issue:

Mobile | Browser Extension

The issue is not reproducible using Chrome, at least not for the Buildium login page at:

https://signin.managebuilding.com/manager/public/authentication/login

@gingerrroot I can also autofill on that site/form with Firefox extension 2026.3.0 / Win 11 – both with the inline autofill menu and the Fill button.

I am seeing the same issue with chrome and edge using the extension when trying to access QBO. Used to work fine.

@applbaum Welcome to the forum!

What exact URL is that?

I tested the QBO login page at https://accounts.intuit.com/app/sign-in?app_group=QBO&asset_alias=Intuit.accounting.core.qbowebapp&app_environment=prod&iux_redirect_reason=UNAUTHENTICATED using Chrome, and autofilling worked without issue:

Email autofills. Password does not.

My experience is different:

I am still able to reproduce it not auto filling the password. What is the best way to troubleshoot?

Start by disabling all other browser extensions (or do your test in an Incognito window, after ensuring that the Bitwarden extension is allowed to run in Incognito, but no other extensions have this privilege).

Another standard troubleshooting step would be to uninstall your Bitwarden extension, restart your browser, and reinstall the extension.

So if I run bitwarden in incognito, it works - but only the first time. The same happens in regular mode after clearing cookies/cache.

The first time launching QBO, it prompts you for email on the first sign in page. Auto fill works. Then it take you to the password page. Auto fill works.

If you then sign out, close the browser and reopen QBO - it caches your email address. You click your email address and it takes you to the password page. Auto fill no longer works.

With this method, do you still see a number :one: on the Bitwarden browser extension icon next to the browser address bar (or do you see the relevant login item as an “Autofill suggestion” if you open the browser extension window)?

Yes, I see the 1 in the browser extension. When I click in the password field it does have the autofill suggestion. When I click on the autofill suggestion, the suggestion goes away upon click and nothing is filled in. I can click back in the password box again, it suggests the password, click and nothing happens. If I click on the browser extension and click fill, nothing happens.

Unfortunately, as I don’t have a QBO account, I cannot troubleshoot further. When you get to the password input form (after clicking your saved email address), please right-click the field, and select Bitwarden > Copy custom field name in the pop-up context menu. Then paste the contents of your clipboard into your response here.

I seem to find another one that doesn’t work every few days. Off the top of my head:

  • Cloudflare
  • RingCentral
  • Starlink

As others have stated, this just started happening recently. My preferred login method is using the keyboard shortcut, but when that failed I attempted filling using the Firefox browser extension. It correctly identifies the site and shows that I have a login saved. When I click the Fill button, email or username is filled in but nothing happens on the password field.

Firefox Bitwarden extension v2026.3.0
Firefox verision 149.0.2 (64-bit)
Windows 11, but same behavior on MacOS

Here is today’s find for sites that no longer work:

Seems like a work-around for some of the sites that don’t autofill is to refresh the web page once you’ve reached the password input field, then autofill.

That worked! Thank you. It’s obviously not a permanent solution, but I can deal with that for the time being.
