I’m having no end of issues with autofill on Firefox/Chrome on both Windows and Mac. Sites that used to previously autofill perfectly now don’t work. (Examples include cloudflare, microsoft 365 admin panel among others) Sometimes, just the username (or e-mail) will fill, other times both the username & password will fill. The OTP almost never fills - I have to copy and paste it.
This has started within the last few weeks. I’m running self-hosted, with latest versions of all OSes/browsers/add-ins.
Anyone else noticed this? Let me know if I can provide any other diagnostic info to help figure out what is going on with this.
Hmm Unfortunately this works for some sites, but doesn’t for others. For example, yesterday I went to buy something and paypal popped up a modal, so I hit CTRL+SHIFT+L (Windows) to fill my username and password, but it wouldn’t fill my OTP. Refreshing it completely breaks the login flow.
Similarly today I went to log into Office 365, option+shift+L (Mac OS now) and it fills my username & pass just fine, but if I click next it asks for my OTP. If it hit opt+shift+L, it puts in my username.
I’m experiencing the same issue on my Fedora 44 workstation.
What has changed in the past few weeks that this has gone from working perfectly to so badly broken? Is this a client side issue on my end or is there an issue with Bitwarden? I’ve gone back to “Copy OTP to clipboard”, a setting which I dislike because I often have things on my clipboard I need to do things with, and BW wipes it out then doesnt put it back.
I know these are all incredibly minor gripes but I’m filling tens of passwords a day so its quite problematic (seemingly because apparently nothing can stay logged in these days but that’s a different issue altogether) – as such I’d love to hear if there is any kind of a fix that either I can apply or if there is one forthcoming.
If it matters, I’m using selfhosted on docker (2026.4.1), firefox 150.0.2 and Extension 2026.3.0 on MacOS 26.4.1 (although as seen above this issue exists across basically all platforms).
The lack of working autofill functionality for TOTP fields is a common issue, caused by the fact that the algorithm that identifies such input fields is quite limited in its current implementation.
For filling TOTP fields, a more robust method is to place the cursor in the form field, and press Ctrl+V; this assumes that in your browser extension settings, the option “Copy TOTP automatically” (under Settings > Autofill > Additional Options) is enabled, which I believe is the case by default.
