Our LARGE consulting org just moved to bw and this is super obnoxious. We are managing around 50+ logins on the same website and having to scroll through them is wildly inefficient.
I understand we can search, then click launch, but if I am already on the page I need to autofill on, why would I want to do this?
@Marc_Charette thank God I finally found someone who sympathizes with this thing that pains me multiple times every day for the last several years. I hope this little tiny UI button change can be implemented before the end of my days.
Dont understand why this is not added yet. I’m SEO specialist and i’ve hundreds of accounts. I use them all the time so I search for accounts all the time.
@Rihards_Veters Do you also find that cycling through them with the keyboard shortcut has no predictable behavior and often “loops” over the same logins multiple times, while skipping over others completely, resulting in a frustrating mess? …and always requiring eventually going back to the mouse to search the vault, click 5-6 times through the frustrating UI sequence of clicking to activate the popup, searching for the right account, clicking into the details (because God forbid we have an actual “auto-fill” button on the main tab)
Hi all! Thank you so much for the feedback and your patience over the years. I’m excited to let you know this usability issue will be addressed in the upcoming Extension Redesign.
In the update, search terms will filter the “Auto-fill suggestions” you see in the screenshots, as well as “Favorites” and “All items”. If the item you want to fill, does not appear in the suggested section (based on its URI matching), you will still be able to access the auto-fill action from the 3 dot “more” menu.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.
Not to throw cold water on this otherwise good news, but I’m sorry to say that it’s too little too late for me. I moved on to another product. I was an avid Bitwarden supporter for the last 8 years or so, recommending it to everyone: clients, friends, colleagues. It was not an easy decision to switch, but my hands were tied because of the daily frustration with just USING this essential product hundreds of times a day.
5 years for a simple feature request that literally wasted days of cumulative time is just not acceptable. Glad to hear the extension is being redesigned, but honestly something is wrong here when $100MM investment hasn’t yielded a more balanced and consistent pace of development.
So it’s still two clicks, as in the current UI? (Currently: click to open item, then click “Auto-fill”; Redesign: click to open kebab menu, then click “Auto-fill”.)
Why not a one-click auto-fill, like the current behavior on the “Tab” page? (or even a one-click visible Auto-fill button, like in the redesigned “Auto-fill suggestions” section?)
As @dflinn wrote in this post above, with the new browser extension (and the merge of the old “Tab” tab and “Vault” tab), it is now possible to autofill after a search - when the search result is in the autofill suggestions (your preferred autofill setting - “Fill” button or “Click an item to autofill”) and when the result is not in the autofill suggestions (three-dot-menu → Autofill / Fill and save).
If there are new requests around this topic - based on the new behaviour of the extension - feel free to create a new Feature Request for that.
