Auto save newly created login info

I believe the clearing is normally intended behavior so that values copied to the clipboard don’t linger and get picked up by other apps or accidentally pasted elsewhere. This features makes perfect sense and if the prompting could be guaranteed (or very nearly) it wouldn’t be an issue at all

That’s correct - each client can be configured with your preferred value for clipboard clearing timeout.

I wasn’t aware of this feature!

Nice to know. But how do i do this on a smartphone?

thanks.

LOL I just switched from LP and it didn’t even save my new account creation for THIS FORUM… I really don’t wanna go to 1Password, but there seems to be a decent amount missing in Bitwarden and judging by the “overlay popup” was from 2018 and STILL doesn’t have anything more than “planned” is frustrating…

Same here, I switched from LP, this was the first new website that I registered, and Bitwarden did not autosave the new password. It did not even fill the password during the registration that I generated within the extension (at least I did not figure out how to). I can live with this for the time being, but good luck convincing my wife to use it.

Yep, I have the same problem… It’s fine for me as I am software engineer, but my parents and wife are gonna have a tough time coming from LP.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it has been passed along to the team! In the meantime, if you are using Firefox, you can use the sidebar functionality to create a persistent experience.

Also be sure to disable your browser’s ability to manage credentials to prevent any interference.

I came from LastPass as well, and this is the only thing I have encountered that seems like a significant missing piece BitWarden. I got so used to it in LastPass, that is stuck out like a sore thumb once I realized that autosaving new logins doesn’t work very well in BitWarden. Would be great if this could be improved in the future.

Just switched to bitwarden from lastpass. I had assumed this functionality was standard and every single password manager would automatically add new and existing login info as you log in to things.

The bitwarden employee response above is super discouraging, but maybe the request is unclear.

This expectation is this:

  1. I have an existing login for a website or I am registering a new account
  2. Bitwarden does not have that login info.
  3. I enter the login information for that website
  4. I log in
  5. Bitwarden should offer to add my credentials to a vault

This doesn’t work, and is a huge disappointment for me. I just paid for the family plan assuming this was a feature. If this isn’t implemented or no justification is provided by the time my subscription is up I’m definitely cancelling.

Hi @JayKobe thanks for sharing. one thing to try would be to do a test in a fresh browser installation to ensure there is nothing else that might be interfering with the Bitwarden extension.

This is definitely an issue. Bitwarden catches a small amount of credentials that were just created, but most I have to manually enter them, which is not really user friendly.
