Here is a work around.

  1. Create a team collection called Archived Items

  2. Move all old account to Archived Items collection

  3. Goto team member’s page, click user and remove permission of Archived Items for youself, then the Archived Items collection has no manager and no one can see items in it.

  4. If you want to archive some item, temporarily give youself permissions to manage Archived Items collection. Then remove your permission.
