I have a reverse key command issue. I need to disable one. When I use command-shift-G in Adobe InDesign CS (Mac), a command I use all the time, I am taken to the Bitwarden App with an open dialogue box asking if I want to regenerate the password for the open record. This is very frustrating.
Keyboard shortcuts are essential for me! I’m actually seriously considering to move away from Bitwarden, since I can’t get any shortcuts I hoped development was faster here…
My needs are simple
Fill in: Ctrl-Shift-L (existing)
Generate new password: Ctrl-Shift-??? (The right-click-menu doesn’t even offer this - here it’s only possible to paste an already copied password… It doesn’t make sense??)
These operations are used several times a day, while all the rest is only occasionally, and for that I can use a mouse.
I don’t understand why you would map “Cmd + Shift + L” which is used by Safari for showing and hiding the sidebar. And I know "Cmd + " is also an option, but only for people with a certain keyboard or locale. JUST LET US PICK OUT OWN KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS.
I did not read all the comments in detail but did not find that request (I’m using the Chrome extension):
I have many sites where the autofill doesn’t work at all. Most of them are in my company’s internal network, so I’m not able to share them for investigation. For those sites I always have to type in the username and then open the extension, click the “copy password” icon and paste it.
To make life easier I would love a shortcut to just copy the password of the current site to the clipboard. I usually know the username by heart and can just type it, but another shortcut for that would also be nice.
Even better would be a shortcut to directly paste the usaername/password in the current input field, if that’s possible. So, I don’t need to hit Crtl+Y and also the password is not need in the clipboard at all.
Not sure if this helps, but I also have some sites where the default autofill does not work, sometimes it’s because the site code itself blocks the autofill, but most commonly it’s because the site code does not use standard username/password input names/ids, so what I do is inspect the code to check the login form input names/ids for username and password and add those customer fields to my Bitwarden login items accordingly. I also use this for those annoying “remember me next time” checkboxes. This workaround does not work 100% of the times, though, because sometimes it appears to be blocked by the site or the custom fields simply do not work for some reason. Cheers!
How there still isn’t a keyboard shortcut to Edit (CMD+E) / Save (CMD+S) / navigate the general password generation UI bewilders me. Please update this! There isn’t even a way to delete a password entry without having to click the damn button on the bottom right!
??selecting multiple passwords at a time / deleting multiple entries? Would be great…
Need a shortcut to trigger vault synchronization. Otherwise working with multiple devices can be cumbersome. Ideally also place a synchronization button in the main application UI screen.
It’s been 10 months now at least since I’ve seen it’s “on the roadmap”. Almost 2 years since inception of this issue. This is not a security-sensitive issue…
I mean, that’s good, but you know where I’m going with this. I think it’s a usability feature that’s really expected and not having it makes bitwarden look really unpoilshed and uninviting to new users. This is why I feel it’s a bigger priority than it might look like.
Like everyone here who didn’t go to the bigger commercial alternatives, I love bitwarden’s idea and mode of operation.
So I suppose the next question I should be asking is if there’s any way I can help.
I’m coming from LastPass and keyboard shortcuts are essential. My most common scenario is to type a key combination to get a prompt for a login. Typing Enter then launches my default browser to open the URL and auto-fill the username/password. Very slick! By the way, you’ll never get everyone to agree on the shortcut keys to use, so just make it settable.
