Windows Desktop App doesn't ask for authenticator code (2FA)

Version 2025.10.0
SDK ‘main (d0262d3)’
Shell 36.9.3
Renderer 136.0.7103.177
Node 22.19.0
Architecture x64

I have setup 2 step login using Google Authenticator. It works perfectly fine if I am login through web browser. However, when I use Desktop App then it asks for Master Password but doesn’t ask for Authenticator code. Am I missing any step in configuration?
The version of installed App has been mentioned above.
Thanks in advance.

Most likely, you previously logged in on the Desktop app, and enabled the option “Don’t ask again on this device for 30 days” (previously called “Remember me”) at the 2FA prompt. To undo this, you need to log in to the Web Vault, go to Settings > My Account, scroll down to the red box labeled “Danger Zone”, and click on Deauthorize sessions.

This will log you out of all of your Bitwarden apps and browser extensions, and re-enable the 2FA requirement on all apps/extensions. Make sure that you have your username, master password, and 2FA recovery code before de-authorizing (and to be extra safe, it may be advisable to also create a JSON or ZIP export).

An alternative to Deauthorize sessions mentioned by @grb is to log out and delete the Bitwarden’s data directory. This has the advantage of not logging you out everywhere else, but the possible “disadvantage” of leaving your 2FA token on the server that you don’t use but will be valid for its remaining period (max 30 days?).

Just a sidenote: I changed the title from Authenticator doesn’t work on Windows App to Windows Desktop App doesn’t ask for authenticator code (2FA) to better reflect the issue at hand.
