Why is the sidebar illegible now?

MacOS desktop client. The sidebar is now in dark mode and effectively illegible. I had to roll back to version 2025.12. to be able to use it.

The desktop client has always been very poor and hard to read, but this feels like actively malicious action.

And what’s with the big, poorly located, BITWARDEN PASSWORD MANAGER branding? Is it assumed that I don’t know what password manager I’m using?

For comparison, the old sidebar, that sucked in that you couldn’t resize it after zooming in to get a legible font size, but I could at least read it.

@orc4hire I don’t have a solution for you (other than the suggestion to create a feature request), but I was curious about your perspective, so I looked into it. I am leaving a link to the following resource for other forum participants who, like me, may not be familiar with accessibility issues pertaining to dark mode UI designs:

Yes, dark mode is ALWAYS worse for legibility. I don’t understand the fascination with it.

Agree. I HATE this dark mode look, I have old eyes and it’s difficult to see.

Offer an option, at least.
