Where to approve browser extension fingerprint login in the MacOS app?

MacOS. Safari fingerprint login works.

However, on Firefox and Brave we need to select “

you then get prompted “Awaiting confirmation from desktop
Please confirm using biometrics in the
Bitwarden desktop application to set up bio-
metrics for browser.”

so you’ then go to the MacOS APP and turn on “Allow browser integration
Used to allow biometric unlock in browsers that are not Safari.”

However, there is then no popup in the MacOS app to allow this. I then hit SYNC, and still no popup. I can’t see anywhere in any of the settings or menu items to approve the browser login. I can’t see any diagnostic log to copy and paste here to give any more information.

It’s like there is no ocmmunication between browser and app going on.

This is on Tahoe 26.3.1, Bitwarden
Version 2026.2.1 (57189), browser extension Version: 2026.2.0
SDK: ’ ()’
Server version: 2026.3.1 (same version number on Firefox and Brave Browser (which is chrome))

Probably not – as you’re probably talking about biometric unlock. (and not login)

Wrong order… You first have to open the desktop app, and make sure that biometric unlock and “Allow browser integration” are enabled.

Then, with the open desktop app, start your browser and set up biometric unlock on the extension.

For Firefox on MacOS – if it still doesn’t work – have a look into these additional instructions: Firefox browser extension biometrics integration stuck on "Awaiting confirmation from desktop" - #25 by Nail1684

PS: You might as well check the general points for setting up biometric unlock for the extension – this post including the following posts provide the latest summary on that here.

I am having this issue as well. I’ve tried the suggestions in here but no dice.
Launched Bitwarden Desktop App, logged in, ensured browser integration is checked. Logged into Bitwarden Firefox extension and the “Unlock with Biometrics” was greyed out. Hit back, went back into Account security and it is now not grayed out. Checked it, the “awaiting confirmation from desktop” shows up then it will not go though. I’ve tried multiple reboots, uninstalling desktop app/extension.

@cpederson Welcome to the forum!

And sounds like you now only need to follow this as well:

Thanks for the quick response. This did fix it for me. Is there an official fix in the works? I really don’t want to have to do this for my end users…

As far as I know: not yet.
