So trying to update my password I think I screwed it up since I forgot the password.
I am not sure why it didn’t save on the extension.
I can still login on my iPhone and add and delete.. I can still login using the chrome extension with no problem.. but when I try to access the vault using the website its says my master password is incorrect..
What steps do I need to take to reset it again?
You can’t reset your Master Password without knowing the current one, since you need to do that in the web vault.
First - very important - disconnect your PC that has the Bitwarden chrome extension installed, where you are able to unlock it - from the internet (unplug the network cable and turn off wifi). You don’t want a reset to come through which would log you out of the vault.
Then, export your vault (using the browser extension) I would export it in JSON format (unencrypted) and save it on your (encrypted) hard drive, an encrypted USB stick or someplace that is secure.
You need to do this first to avoid losing access to all of your passwords.
Then you can troubleshoot further.
If you generated it with the browser extension, the password might still be in the generator history of the browser extension.
Up until 60 minutes after a change of the master password, it can be still possible to login with the old master password to apps (when the devices stay online) - that’s the reason to cut them off from the internet soon, to be able to export your data.
As @bwuser10000 already wrote, unfortunately you can only change the master password the same way you already changed it. There’s no other way to “reset” or change it.
