WebAuthn issues using the Android app

I’ve used Bitwarden on my Android phone (S23 Ultra with latest non-beta Android version) along with a NFC Yubikey 5 for a few years now with no issue. Last week, it stopped working.

I enter my password successfully, which takes me to the “Authenticate WebAuthn” page. I “Launch WebAuthn” and then click “Authenticate WebAuthn”. At this point, in the past, I will get prompted to use my key … but the button just changes to “Return to app” and then I get an error.

I have no issues logging in on my Windows computer (including with my Yubikey), both via the web vault and the browser extension.

Already tried to uninstall/reinstall the Bitwarden app, but no dice.

Tried Bitwarden support but they started to troubleshoot my Yubikey which seems not right, considering it works fine on Windows and I dont even get prompted to use the key now on my phone.

Thoughts??

@maverick71 Welcome to the forum!

Did you also log out and/or delete the app data?

If that doesn’t work - there seem to be some others reporting problems with the FIDO2-2FA on Android: Webauthn 2FA not working in Android app · Issue #5014 · bitwarden/android · GitHub and maybe also this one: Can't login, unable to authenticate yubikey: "An error has occurred. Two-step token is invalid. Try again." · Issue #4799 · bitwarden/android · GitHub

One comment in the first bug report seems to indicate, that updating the browser helped. Did you try to go into the Google PlayStore and update all apps?

Thank you. Yes, it appears to be the same issue as 5014. I had already tried logging out/deleting the app data/updating all my programs. What worked was selecting Bitwarden in the Chrome autofill settings. So, it works now, but now I need to go through another dialog box (use QR code). Definitely seems like something changed/broke that Bitwarden needs to evaluate.
